TheCAE Engineer for Noise and Vibration (N&V) will perform complex Finite Element Analysis (FEA)for the purpose of predicting Noise and Vibration performance to metrics,developing and integrating solutions in vehicle designs to ensure programrequirements are met.
Perform analytical simulations to evaluate noise and vibrationperformance in full vehicle structures and subsystems or components as needed.
Build, debug and exercise FEA models using CAE software.
Generate technical solutions for current and future programs tomeet N&V performance targets with mass and cost efficiency.
Present results and generate actionable recommendations based onanalysis in order to improve and lead the design.
Produce and communicate concisesummaries.
Perform design optimization using design of experiments (DOE)methods and commercial software.
Utilize Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology to identify, driveand optimize critical procedures and designs.
Assist in developing new CAE techniques by developing, evaluatingand customizing new simulation tools, software, and procedures related tomodeling, solver parameters and material characterization.
Keep up to date with latest CAE tools/trends, occasionallyparticipate in training and technical workshops.
Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products.
Correlate CAE models with physical test data as needed toestablish accuracy in CAE models, work with test laboratories to measure andinterpret physical N&V test data.
Carry out Closed-Loop Learning activities to expand CAE capability
Actively participate in N&V Performance Integration Team (PIT),Structural Integration (SI) and Design Product Development Team (PDT) meetings towork through packaging issues, mass and cost impact of solutions.
Participate in Global CAE Product & Technical Focus Groups andother work groups as requested.
Minimum Education and ExperienceRequired
Masterof Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineeringarea or physics
Educationor experience preferred to include:
Theoryand application of vibro-acoustics (analytical and experimental) andfinite element analysis.
Design,development, and optimization of vehicle structures
Static,dynamic, thermal and fatigue analyses for chassis, frames, body,interior, and powertrain structures
Boundaryelement methods (BEM) and Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) for vibro-acousticsimulations.
Goodunderstanding of establishing loads and boundary conditions for FEAmodeling and analysis.
5 yearsof experience in using CAE methods for structural design, development& analysis
Laboratorytesting experience with LMS Test.Lab software or other data acquisition instrumentation
Highdegree of analytical ability (root cause failure analysis) where problemsare complex or difficult.
