Brief Job Overview

The successful applicant will drive product development and adoption by understanding NMR analysis needs, key applications, and how new technologies developed by USP can meet those needs. This role is critical to understanding the voice of the customer and translating that voice into meaningful product

and technology development. This is not a purely development role, the successful applicant will also work closely with customers and prospective customers to make them successful using USP products for their NMR analyses through sales and technical support.

The NMR Software Product Specialist has the following responsibilities:

  • 40% Product development

o Work with development teams to write user stories, market requirements, and acceptance criteria while managing product and feature backlog for NMR products.

o Participate in the research, definition, prioritization, and product planning based on customer feedback and collaboration with the development team.

o Test new features for market requirement fulfillment.

o Prioritize new feature development to achieve high impact.

o Support internal projects as needed.

  • 40% Sales and customer support

o Provide technical and business support to customers.

o Performing product demonstrations for customers, staff, and other stakeholders.

o Domestic travel up to 10% to attend conferences and customer meetings.

o Work with technical and scientific subject matter experts to support new application development.

  • 20% Continuous monitoring, feedback, and improvement

o Establish and monitor key performance indicators to support decision making.

o Routinely document and update procedures.

o Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

o Other duties as assigned.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field. Chemistry and chemical engineering preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field(s) of analytical chemistry, process chemistry, or scientific software and/or product development.

Additional Desired Preferences

  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, or business.

  • Experience with analytical technologies including: nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and others.

  • Experience working with scientists and engineers to solve complex problems in life sciences.

  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical R&D, manufacturing, and/or quality control.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to explain highly technical or complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Data science, analytics, or programming (Python preferred) experience.

  • Experience with revenue or sales operations.

  • Familiarity with Agile product development

None. This is an individual contributor role.
