Night Watch (Part-Time)

We are currently looking for a part-time Night Watch person to work overnight shifts 3 nights per week within our Independent Living Community at The Wesleyan. The Night Watch person will be responsible for ensuring a safe residential living community by overseeing and patrolling the buildings and grounds of the community. Experience handling routine maintenance of a residential apartment building along with a proven ability to stay calm and address the needs of residents in emergency and non-emergency situations will be essential to your success as a Night Watch person at The Wesleyan.

• The shift for this schedule requires availability from 11:30PM to 7:30AM 3 nights a week*

Essential Job Functions:

• Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine they are secure.

• Maintains general security involving local authorities as needed.

• permits only authorized persons to enter the property.

• Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.

• Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.

• Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.

• Performs light routine maintenance and housekeeping duties as schedule allows, including trash and sanitation of work spaces.

• Operates various pieces of equipment such as fire alarm & monitoring system, emergency call system monitoring board, wet-vac & floor care equipment, routine housekeeping & maintenance equipment, etc.

• Reports potentially unsafe conditions.

• Completes incident reports for unusual activities, injuries or reports from residents by end of shift and distributes to building Administrator.

• Reports significant incidents, injuries, power failure, security breaches and the like to the building Administrator and/or Director of Maintenance immediately.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

• Minimum of 1 years' experience handling routine maintenance within a residential apartment building, preferably within a senior living community.

• A calm, organized demeanor in all emergency and non-emergency related issues or concerns.

• Proven ability to think quickly and respond safely and appropriately in emergency situations.

• A service-minded approach to all aspects of the job.

• A passion for working within a senior living community is a plus!
