Overview

The Night Maintenance employee performs guest service by providing Cracker Barrel with a building and equipment that are ready for guests. The appearance of a clean building in the public areas, and a sanitized, clean food preparation area ensure guest satisfaction and safety.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for making sure that guest health is protected by always using the highest standards of cleanliness in all areas of the store

  • Follows Cracker Barrel Old Country Store operational policies and procedures, including those for safety and security, to ensure the safety of all employees and guests during each shift

  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace

  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays

  • Meet store operating policies of safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications

  • Stand for long periods of time

  • Reach and lift overhead up to 25 pounds

  • Work in hot and cold temperature extremes subject to fluctuations for long periods of time.

  • Work in environment where smoke, fumes, steam, and other airborne particles are present

  • Work around, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner

VIEW JOBS 6/22/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-09-20T00:00 Job Description FLSA Status: Nonexempt Inclement Weather Classification: Essential An employee in this class performs routine, manual work in providing safe and attractive streets, sidewalks and grounds for use by city residents. Work includes general landscaping, digging, equipment maintenance, patching asphalt pavement, concrete replacement, driving a city truck, loading and unloading crew supplies, directing traffic, cleaning storm water structures, cleaning and spraying sidewalks, litter removal on streets, janitorial work and other labor intensive tasks. The employee may be assigned work as part of a maintenance team or independently and must exercise some independence or action and judgment when traveling between assigned worksites and completing assignments. Work is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker I level by the type and complexity of work assignments, the knowledge and ability required to perform certain maintenance tasks, and the degree of supervision required. Work is performed under the direction of a senior skilled maintenance employee or maintenance supervisor, and is evaluated through visual inspection, review of maintenance reports, and periodic discussions with employee. This classification is considered non-exempt in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Examples of Duties * Performs asphalt patching, concrete replacement and grounds maintenance, using shovels, dump trucks, jackhammers, and tamps * Drives dump truck of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of equipment, gravel, sand, concrete, asphalt, and base rock * Performs general landscaping work including operating push mowers, weed eaters, trimming and pruning trees and shrubs, and cutting down trees * Sprays concrete islands and sidewalks by using backpack mounted sprayer and walking * Removes litter from city streets(requires excessive walking) * Shovels snow from sidewalks and pavements and spreads ice melting materials to prevent slippage * Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use * Exercise safety requirements, procedures, and proper PPE at all times * Performs related duties as required Qualifications * General knowledge of general maintenance work performed by a municipality * General knowledge of and ability to operate push mowers, tractors, dump trucks, leaf blowers, forklifts, weed eaters, tamps, jackhammers, shovels, rakes, lutes, and other maintenance equipment * General knowledge of and ability to apply grass seed, straw and mulch * General knowledge of and ability to apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides under the direction of a licensed herbicide and pesticide supervisor * General knowledge of safety practices and ability to identify and report safety issues and maintenance needs for various structures, grounds, and facilities * Ability to receive and follow supervisory instructions * Ability to work with others as team member * Ability to work safely and adhere to established safety principles and practices * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city employees and the general public Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalency and some work experience performing preventative maintenance in buildings, water and sewer lines, street maintenance, and/or grounds facilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supplemental Information Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Work in this class is described as medium and frequently requires physical exertion to complete tasks and move objects. Work typically involves the ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, hearing and repetitive motions. Excessive walking is required. The worker is required to have the acuity to be the operator of trucks, forklifts, canes, and other equipment. The employee is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to extreme weather conditions, noise and vibration.
