Overview

The Night Maintenance employee performs guest service by providing Cracker Barrel with a building and equipment that are ready for guests. The appearance of a clean building in the public areas, and a sanitized, clean food preparation area ensure guest satisfaction and safety.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for making sure that guest health is protected by always using the highest standards of cleanliness in all areas of the store

  • Follows Cracker Barrel Old Country Store operational policies and procedures, including those for safety and security, to ensure the safety of all employees and guests during each shift

  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace

  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays

  • Meet store operating policies of safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift

Qualifications

  • Stand for long periods of time

  • Reach and lift overhead up to 25 pounds

  • Work in hot and cold temperature extremes subject to fluctuations for long periods of time.

  • Work in environment where smoke, fumes, steam, and other airborne particles are present

  • Work around, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner

VIEW JOBS 10/8/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-06T00:00 Job Description FLSA Status: Nonexempt Inclement Weather Classification: Essential An employee in this class performs routine manual work in providing safe and attractive structures, facilities, and grounds for use by City workers and staff. The employee responsible for providing general maintenance to City's water and sewer infrastructure consisting of repairing, replacing and renewing both water and sewer lines. Work includes general landscaping, digging, equipment maintenance, patching pipes and pavement, driving a City truck, loading and unloading crew supplies, spraying weed killer, directing traffic, and other labor intensive tasks. Work is performed under the supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor and is evaluated for safety, operation, and overall appearance of City structures and is checked daily by visual inspection and feedback from patrons. This classification is considered nonexempt in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Examples of Duties * Checks operation of water and wastewater valves by manually turning valves on and off with valve key or wrench * Reports needed valve replacements to immediate supervisor * Digs, patches and backfills pavement or grounds using shovels, dump trucks, jackhammers, and tamps * Assists with repair of water and wastewater main breaks; digs pavement, cuts or clamps pipes, and backfills * Drives dump truck to and from worksite hauling debris, mud, and materials used for backfill * Performs general landscaping work including mowing with riding and push mowers, trims, and prunes trees and shrubs, and cuts down trees * Shovels snow from sidewalks and spreads ice melting materials * Performs general vehicle and building maintenance * Performs related duties as required Qualifications * General knowledge of general maintenance work performed by municipality * General knowledge of equipment, facilities, methods, and procedures used in maintenance and repair activities * Ability to operate mower, tractor, dump truck, leaf blower, weed eater, chainsaw, tamp, jackhammer, and other maintenance equipment * Ability to apply seed and straw in various areas including fertilizing, mowing, shoveling, raking, and erecting proper signage to denote crews at work * Ability to exercise judgment and independence of action while traveling between assigned worksites * Ability to follow oral and written instructions provided by the supervisor * Ability to identify and report to a supervisor the maintenance needs of various structures, grounds, and facilities * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and the general public Education and Experience High school Diploma or GED equivalency and some work experience in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and/or water and wastewater plants, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supplemental Information Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Work in this class is described as medium and frequently requires physical exertion to complete tasks and moving objects. Work typically involves the ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, hearing, talking and repetitive motions. The employee is required to have visual acuity to operate machines such as lathes, drill presses or power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach, performs mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive natures such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, and mechanics. Employee is subject to hazards including physical conditions with proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to chemicals, noise, and atmospheric conditions. Employee is frequently exposed to work in close quarters, crawl spaces, shafts, man holes, small enclosed rooms, water lines, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia and is required to function in narrow aisles or passage ways. Working conditions include both inside and outside environmental conditions.
