Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing East Austin youth to attend and excel at the nation's top colleges and universities. The Night Custodian will join the Night Custodial Team to help maintain the Austin Achieve campuses and create a welcoming environment for scholars to learn each day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work in a Team to Perform Routine Cleaning
- Classrooms
- Maintains clean floors: sweep and mop daily
- Buffs weekly
- Sanitizes desks and other surfaces daily
- Removes trash and replaces bags daily
- Cleans windows regularly (at least 1x weekly)
- Dusts regularly (at least 1x weekly)
- Checks all paper towels, soap dispensers daily; replaces as needed (specific classrooms)
- Restrooms
- Maintains clean floors: sweep and mop daily
- Cleans toilets and urinals daily
- Sanitizes all restroom surfaces daily (i.e. sinks)
- Removes trash, feminine receptacles daily, and replaces bags
- Checks toilet paper, paper towels, and soap daily; replaces as needed
- Exterior
- Keeps dumpster area clean daily
- Sweeps sidewalks, playgrounds, and courts daily
- Picks-up trash outside daily
- Picks-up litter in parking lots, turf fields, and landscaped areas daily
- Special Areas
- Sanitizes water fountains daily
- Vacuums carpeted areas daily
- Cleans stairs (sweep, mop) and hallways (sweep, mop, buff) daily
- Dusts and cleans hallway windows regularly (at least 1x weekly)
- Checks all paper towels, soap dispensers daily; replaces as needed (workrooms, offices, etc)
- Emergency Cleaning
- Safely cleans and sanitizes areas affected by facilities emergencies, including clogged toilets and/or wastewater
- Safely cleans and sanitizes areas affected by students' bodily fluids (blood, etc)
- Additional Systems Duties as Assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- PHYSICAL: Must meet certain physical criteria such as:
- Ability to be on feet all day
- Ability to maneuver all custodial equipment
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check

- Ability to join a team that has aggressive goals and professional expectations and is willing to receive and implement feedback to effectively contribute and achieve these organizational goals either independently, collaboratively, and/or under the direction and accountability of a senior staff member
- Effectively uses qualitative and quantitative data to identify problems and can work with and/or lead a team to problem solve using persistence and dedication in an effort to achieve personal, department, and/or organizational goals
- Willingness to engage in collegial debate with teammates regarding important decisions and rally behind decisions once they are made
Required Experience:
- Previous success working as a custodian in school or public settings
