Position: District Custodial Supervisor (Building)

Responsibility:

The Custodial Supervisor is directly responsible to the building principal and the Facilities Manager and through him/her to the Business Administrator and the Superintendent of Schools. He/she shall be responsible for the direction and supervision of the building custodial staff in maintaining the cleanliness and proper condition of the building.

PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES:

• Prepare and assign custodial duties and areas of responsibility for building custodial staff.

• Supervise the individual performance of the custodial staff.

• Assign specific tasks on a daily basis for the efficient operation of the building including such items as deliveries, storage, vandalism, emergency cleanups, etc.

• Oversee the functioning of heating and cooling systems including the ordering of fuel and the setting of temperature controls.

• Perform custodial tasks and minor repairs to plumbing, carpentry and electrical installations where necessary.

• Provide for ordering, security, distribution and proper inventory control of custodial supplies.

• Maintain adequate records of custodial attendance including the time cards absences, lateness, etc.

• Supervise the overall security of the building internally and externally including exterior doors, storage areas and school openings and closings.

• Coordinate maintenance cycles of stripping waxing glass cleaning and special area cleaning by developing work calendars and assigning staff.

• Orient and monitor work activities of substitute custodians.

• Conduct daily inspections of the building to determine work completion and identification of work needs.

• Supervise the overall maintenance of building and grounds including interior courtyards and exterior areas such as loading zones, parking lots, play areas and trash disposal areas.

• Monitor the alarm systems.

• Coordinate district maintenance work of painting, mowing, drapery cleaning, etc. with building custodial schedules.

• Submit proper reports and breakage, theft, vandalism, fire or accidents to Principal.

• Plan and Supervise preventive maintenance for equipment and facilities on a regular basis.

• Perform other duties associated with the good order of the building as requested by the Building Principal or Facilities Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Black Seal license is required.

Three to five years of related experience.

Will be required to pass a criminal history background check, physical and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien satus.

Terms of Employment/Salary: Twelve (12) Month, Non-Affiliated Position. Salary to be negotiated.
