PURPOSE:

As a primary contact for customers, the Grocery Night Crew Supervisor provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. The Night Crew Supervisor places individual items on shelves in specific location and faces merchandise. Opens cases of merchandise using a company approved box cutter. Faces items to be consistent with Division standards. Dusts and washes shelves as needed. Checks temperature in cold cases, coolers, and freezers as needed. Maintain all aisles with a clear walkway. Bales cardboard and cleans floor. May occasional function as cashier/checker. May complete orders or maintain inventory with handheld ordering device. The Night Crew Supervisor will oversee all the other night crew stockers to function together as a team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides customer service as defined by the employer within the scope of the position and within company policy.

  • Load product onto six-wheelers or use pallet jack to move merchandise.

  • Push loaded six-wheeler to appropriate area.

  • Open cases and carry product to display area.

  • Replace stock on shelves.

  • Face and straighten up shelves.

  • Return excess stock to backroom and inventory.

  • Maintain backroom organization.

  • Rotate product and pull out of date product from shelves.

  • May write grocery orders and do Backroom Inventory (BRI).

  • Operate electronic scanner cash register to total customers' final bill.

  • Receive payment for customer purchase and count back correct change.

  • Bag groceries in plastic, canvas, or paper bags. Lift bags into grocery cart. Offer customer assistance with carry out and perform that if a Courtesy Clerk is not available.

  • Maintain cleanliness of store.

  • Adheres to Federal, State, local laws. Adheres to safety policies and store rules.

  • Other duties as assigned.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory, and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position:

  • Ability to follow company customer service procedures.

  • Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.

  • Successful completion of all company training courses.

  • Ability to interact professionally with customers, co-workers, and supervisor.

  • Must have the ability to read, write and communicate in English.

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.

  • Ability to use the cash register and self-check-out registers as required.

  • Basic math skills to calculate prices and make change.

  • Ability to handle all forms of tender.

  • Knowledge of products, product pricing and store layout.

  • Ability to memorize procedures and look up PLU codes.

  • Ability to make quality decisions and work independently when necessary.

  • Ability to multitask while working under stress and time constraints.

  • Ability to complete tasks assigned in expected time frame.

  • Must be 18 years old and be able to operate bailer and electrical equipment.

  • Reports to work in proper uniform per company policy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The following attempts to communicate the traditional physical demands associated with this position:

Seldom: 1-2 hours, Occasional: 3-4 hours, Frequent: 5-6 hours, Continuous: 7+ hours (Based on an 8-hour workday.)

  • Lift/Carry: Frequent (lift/carry 5-60lbs.)

  • Push/Pull: Seldom, push/pull 10-50 lbs. cases

  • Squat/Kneel: Occasional

  • Bend/Stoop: Occasional

  • Twist/Turn: Occasional

  • Stand/Walk: Continuous

  • Grip/Grasp: Frequent

  • Reach: Continuous

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Working conditions consist of a temperature-controlled store environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor environment with varying temperatures
