La Quinta by Wyndham is now seeking a Night Auditor to join our team at the La Quinta by Wyndham Denver

  • Southwest-Lakewood location in Lakewood, Colorado.

Job Summary

The Night Auditor is responsible for reconciling all hotel cashier transactions; reviewing, organizing and compiling management reports on a timely basis and ensuring the accuracy of guest billings and city ledger transactions. He/she is also responsible for effectively communicating concerns and/or related issues to all levels of management and performing guest service agent duties as required, including check-in, check-out, switchboard operation and reservations.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field required.

  • Guest Service Experience preferred.

  • Computer knowledge/skills required.

Physical Requirements

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.

  • Sedentary work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Late/Overnight shift.

  • Comply with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

  • Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

  • Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Fundamental Requirements

  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.

  • Must be willing to cross train in other accounting or hotel-related areas.

  • Must be able to prioritize job functions in order to meet deadlines.

  • Perform guest services functions as required (i.e. check guests in/out, take reservations, we-up calls, etc.).

  • Audit and reconcile financial and statistical reports.

  • Prepare and distribute necessary daily reports as required (i.e., Daily Operating Report, Discount Programs, Tax Reports, etc.) according to hotel standards.

  • Prepare and distribute month-end reports.

  • Audit and reconcile all Front Desk and Food & Beverage Cashier's work.

  • Audit, reconcile, consolidate, and transmit all credit cards on a timely basis.

  • Prioritize job functions in order to meet deadlines.

  • Ensure accuracy of all numbers reported including statistics.

  • Input and update financial information into corporate communications network.

  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly and annual data processing system functions as required.

  • Keep management abreast of any unusual operational or financial events and/or deviations of policies or procedures.

  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

  • Respond to governmental inquiries upon receipt.

  • Handle guest requests.

Qualifications All applicants for this position must possess the following basic requirements: A. Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor." OR B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: 1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; 2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or 3. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level (i.e. GS-9) in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
