  • Be a Crowd Pleaser -- Smile, welcome, engage -- connecting with people will be a key part of this role as you courteously serve our guests, monitoring and ensuring legal consumption as you go.

  • Be a Food & Beverage Guru -- Knowing your outlet's food & beverage offerings and staying current on industry trends so you can mix the latest and greatest will ensure guest satisfaction and maximized revenues.

  • Be a Professional -- keep your bar stocked, cleaned and sanitary. Serve safely.

    Handle cash/credit appropriately. Follow established policies and procedures.

  • Be a Safety & Security Agent -- follow your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures. Anticipate problems and call management as needed. A current ServSafe certificate/alcohol certification is required.

Job Requirements

Role requires at least 3 years of progressive food & beverage/bartending experience. Current alcohol serving certificate preferred.

Physical requirements include the ability to work long hours, Medium work -- exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, ability to multi task. Must possess the ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms, work under variable temperatures and noise levels. Near Vision -the ability to see details at close range.

Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning. Must possess excellent communication skills; fluency in English required. Must work well in a high energy / high stress environment and have the ability to multitask.

Ensure the highest caliber of service is being offered to all guests so that their arrival experience is pleasurable and informative. While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position.</p><p><strong>MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><ul> <li>Be thoroughly familiar with all check-in and check-out procedures and the AM and PM checklist.</li> <li>Provide a strong sense of arrival and welcome; greet all guests in a friendly, warm, and efficient manner; introduce guests personally to front desk agents.</li> <li>Acknowledge (verbally and by name when possible) and register guests, including verifying accommodations on the computer, obtaining vouchers when necessary, establishing guest credit via credit card or credit deposit, completing forms, entering information into the computer and programming room keys.</li> <li>Relay pertinent information regarding accommodations and assist with questions pertaining to and/or booking reservations.</li> <li>Contact various departments to fill guests’ needs.</li> <li>Enter all guest information into the computer.</li> <li>Make room changes for guests based on availability.</li> <li>Handle and count large amounts of money accurately and efficiently.</li> <li>Exchange foreign currency, cash traveler’s checks and personal checks, balance cash bank and assume responsibility for safeguarding monies. </li> <li>Post charges to guest accounts; transfer charges/credits; run necessary computer reports.</li> <li>Assist with luggage and storage and delivery concerns.</li> <li>Anticipate and handle guest issues and concerns.</li> <li>Escort VIP’s to rooms whenever possible.</li> <li>Monitor associate behavior and “posting up” adherence. Monitor guest interaction scenarios.</li> <li>Practice aggressive hospitality at all times.</li> <li>Perform shut-down duties; post closing tallies.</li> <li>Maintain front office computer hardware and software systems; provide training.</li> <li>Maintain knowledge of hotel features/services, outlets, hours of operation, etc.</li> <li>Practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards; react and assist in hotel emergency situations as needed.</li> <li>Ensure by example that the Belmond Hotels philosophy is known.</li> <li>Observe standards for the department in image, appearance, and grooming; properly represent the company and the profession to outside organizations and the community.</li> <li>Be knowledgeable of, implement, communicate, and comply with policies of Belmond, Belmond Charleston Place, and its Hotel Human Resources Department.</li> <li>Maintain confidentiality and security of all guest and general hotel information.</li> <li>Assist in other areas as needed.</li> <li>Use utilities and resources in a responsible manner to control wastage.</li> <li>Communicate relevant information to the department, your line manager and across departments, as appropriate.</li> <li>Comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety policy and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.</li> <li>Attend learning and development courses and complete eLearning modules, as required.</li> <li>Demonstrate and be a role model of Belmond’s core values of Care, Confidence, Curiosity and Community.</li> </ul><p>EOE/DFWP</p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Belmond Charleston Place provides a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees including medical, dental, vision, disability, life and AD&amp;D insurance.
