Position Specific Responsibilities

Wichita State University's National Institute for Aviation Research is seeking a Master Scheduler to join our team! This position will collaborate with lab directors and outline the life cycle of the program. Individuals be able to lead schedule analysis, produce status reports, and identify schedule impacts and risk assessments for management.

Summary of Responsibilities

Leads the development and maintenance of a work breakdown structure (WBS), and develops, maintains and updates existing program schedules throughout the program life cycle in collaboration with the control account manager and Integrated Project Team (IPT). Performs schedule maintenance, provides regular updates, and develops and delivers status reports. Coordinates and facilitates stakeholder reviews; summarizes and submits meeting notes; and prepares and delivers presentations. Responsible for critical path analysis and contributing to the development and maintenance of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and related dictionaries.

Essential Functions

  • Leads and manages the development of the WBS and WBS Dictionary.

  • Gathers and compiles information needed to build and maintain program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) including major milestones and deliverables.

  • Performs schedule analysis.

  • Develops and reviews schedule variance analyses, and recovery or corrective action plans to identify schedule impacts for management attention; provides oversight of baseline changes within the IMS.

  • Manages internal integration of subproject schedules and their connection to the IMS.

  • Works cross-functionally with IPT.

  • Produces status reports and metrics for schedule performance. Presents analyses and schedules performance in management and program reviews.

  • Identifies issues that may negatively affect quarterly and/or fiscal year financial forecasts.

  • Supports proposal activities as required. Assists in the preparation, schedule risk assessments, and Integrated Master Plan (IMP) development.

  • Acts as scheduling subject expert and mentors others on scheduling best practices.

  • Proposes processes and improvements that will aid integrated scheduling.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Project Management, Business, Management, or related field

Preferred Education Minimum Experience

Three (3) years of project management or related experience; or equivalent combination of related education and experience

Preferred Experience

Five (5) years of project scheduling or related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong business acumen with thorough understanding of standard project management processes (PMI)

  • Strong leadership skills with ability to lead integrated project teams and work cross-functionally with multiple disciplines within the organization (project engineering, finance, operations, etc.)

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated initiative to improve processes

  • Strong organizational, and verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with MS Project and MS Office suite
