Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with an emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state-of-the-art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

ESH invites applications for the position of NGRI Psychologist Supervisor. This position is responsible for the collaborative treatment of patients adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity as a part of a multidisciplinary Treatment Team.

This includes risk assessment and evaluations to facilitate progress through graduated privileging process as well as individualized treatment. In addition, this position would provide clinical and administrative supervision of other NGRI Psychologists as well as serve in a supportive role for the NGRI Forensic Coordinator. This includes review of necessary reports, assessment and court testimony for revocation cases, as well as co-facilitating group supervision for all psychology providers who work with NGRI patients.

A de-identified clinical writing sample will also be requested as part of the application packet.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree in Psychology.

  • Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • Completion of forensic training through the ILPPP.

Additional Considerations

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
