JOB PURPOSE

Manage a team of human resources business partners responsible for providing strategic and tactical HR consultation for near-mine or in-mine facilities in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Leads and oversees activities essential to ensuring the optimization of people, structure, operations, and culture to achieve superior business results at assigned site and across the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities and tasks:

  • Support the development of a motivated and business focused culture that is built on the company's DNA

  • Consuls with site leadership, providing guidance on human resource policies and practices

  • Support annual processes including performance management, talent review, succession planning and compensation reviews

  • Provide guidance on leadership development best practices and coaches and develops leaders; Facilitates succession planning processes and develops action plans for individuals within team to prepare them to assume critical positions

  • Manage and resolves complex employee relations issues

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day leadership of employees, ensuring legal compliance and HR best practices

  • Support the use of consistent, quality human resource investigative processes across the organization and supports compliance with relevant State and Federal laws and regulations

  • Build performance management capabilities by coaching leaders to effectively address performance issues and deliver effective feedback and discipline

  • Work closely with site leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention

  • Support development of new policies and provides HR policy guidance and interpretation

  • Collaborate with leadership on compensation and other terms of employment for new hires, promotions, and transfers

  • Provide guidance and support for organizational development & effectiveness initiatives, including organizational changes.

  • Provide support for workforce and staffing plans

  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR Services group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.

  • Routinely contribute to the Human Resources reporting system

  • Prepare presentations and deliver information to leaders and others as required related to HR metrics, HR predictive metrics and recommended outcomes.

  • Set targets and monitor departmental KPI's to ensure compliance

  • Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives

  • Monitor and review performance against HS&E KPIs, and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility; Take action to improve performance and to resolve non-compliance with the organization's HS&E policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions

  • Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Source and retain high quality human resources personnel, and ensuring that appropriate training, mentoring, and performance management is provided

  • Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in HR, IR, Psychology, Business, or related field; Master's Degree and/or PHR/SPHR Certification or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Five (5) years supervisory experience

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience resolving complex employee relations issues

  • Experience in leading investigations, dispute resolution, preparing and testifying in employment law matters, and crisis management

  • Experience in development of change strategies and employee engagement processes

  • Project and program management - proven ability to manage projects to success and mobilize resources

  • Extensive experience consulting with managers and employees
