WDTV (CBS), WVFX (FOX), EVFX (CW), and EDTV (MeTV) combine to provide local news and weather to all of North Central West Virginia. WDTV/WVFX is located in beautiful north central West Virginia, about 90 minutes south of Pittsburgh, and 30 minutes south of Morgantown. West Virginia in general is comprised of several small cities and very rural in nature making it a great small town family atmosphere.

Job Summary:

WDTV is seeking a reporter that is passionate about the art of storytelling through crafted scripts, compelling interviews, creative video, meaningful natural sound and skilled editing. We want someone assertive and works to uncover news, not merely cover it.

The candidate must be able to ask the tough questions but also someone who can connect with people and tell stories about the human condition. The candidate should have strong reporting and shooting skills, leadership qualities, solid news judgment and the ability to multitask.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Present information in a fair, unbiased manner, insuring the information is accurate and of interest to viewers.

  • Develop story ideas to present in morning/afternoon news meeting.

  • Eager to report, go live, onset debrief of story

  • You must have strong writing, shooting and editing skills, ability to post stories to the web and read from a computer monitor

  • Work contacts and establish self in beat counties and community

  • Ability to handle moderate stress on a regular basis, meet daily and long range deadlines, work well with others in a team atmosphere and contribute meaningful content daily

Requirements

  • A Journalism/Broadcasting degree, or similar line of education, from a four-year university preferred

  • Experience using a camera preferred

JOB SUMMARY: This full-time position is responsible for day-to-day hands-on maintenance of the technical infrastructure at WDTV. The IT Technician will work closely with the Chief Engineer, as well as the other Department Heads. The position will support broadcast-centric software and hardware as well as traditional desktop and file and print services. He/she will respond quickly to provide technical support for news, sales, production and other operations. Must be able to think on their feet, work well with others, a self-starter and a team player that is focused on quality customer service for internal customers. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Ensure that station is always on the cutting edge of technology * Take direction from Gray SVP of Technology and VP of Production regarding new technology, and implement with corresponding workflow modifications. * Help plan and execute departmental budget * Assist in development of Capitol budget * Track expenditures in a pro-active manner to control expenses * Produce various monthly internal and corporate reports * Oversees all technology at WDTV * Performing all routine maintenance procedures as outlined by the vendors Gray TV works with Requirements * Strong management skills • Good communication skills • College Degree or equivalent job experience • Significant experience in a broadcast engineering and broadcast IT environment • Strong knowledge of RF technology • Significant experience with production automation and on-air playout automation • Ability to perform tasks associated with office duties… Operating knowledge of PC's and graphics computers Excellent organizational filing skills • Good people skills • Valid Driver's license, and good driving record (will be reviewed) • Pre-employment drug screening.
