The News Editor operates editing equipment to produce images or scenes for newscasts and other programming.

  • Organizes and strings together raw footage into a continuous whole according to scripts or instructions for newscasts and other programming

  • Reviews assembled footage on screens or monitors to determine whether corrections are necessary

  • Trims filmed segments to specified lengths and reassembles segments into sequences that present stories with maximum effect

  • Determines the specific audio and visual effects necessary to complete spots

  • Sets up and operates computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product

  • Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story

  • Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, work product and desired effects.

  • Maintains editing equipment

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

  • High school diploma

  • Fluency in English

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Minimum two years' experience operating video editing equipment

  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment

  • Proficiency with video editing equipment

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

RTI International is seeking self-motivated and outgoing individuals to work on a government-sponsored research study, the National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG) as Part-Time Field Interviewers. The National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG), conducted since 1973, is a national survey of women and men 15-49 years of age designed to provide national estimates of factors affecting pregnancy and birth rates, including reproductive health, menstruation, sexual activity, contraceptive use, pregnancy history -- including infertility, miscarriage, and stillbirth -- cohabitation, marriage, divorce, and use of medical services for family planning and infertility. For more information on the NSFG research project and requirements, please see: Field Interviewers will make face-to-face visits to households to screen selected households for eligible respondents and conduct in-person interviews asking sensitive questions to selected respondents in a private setting using a project-provided tablet. This position on the NSFG project offers: * Paid training scheduled for late January 2022 * Paid mileage for traveling to selected households * Access to 401(k) plan * Certified bilingual interviewers will be paid a higher hourly rate Location: Wilkes-Barre, PA This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for a part-time, long-term career with a variable schedule that allows you to work independently and not be stuck in an office. As a part-time Field Interviewer, you will interact with others and approach selected households without a prior appointment. You must be able to commit to working weekday evenings and weekend hours (both Saturday and Sunday) without exception. Daytime work on weekdays will also be necessary. Qualified candidates MUST be able to work when respondents are available and be comfortable working a consistent, varied schedule to accommodate project needs. Field Interviewers are responsible for: * Making in-person contact with selected households to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation * Collecting confidential and personally sensitive information and administering a screening interview * Recruiting respondents for a longer main interview * Working a fluid schedule of approximately 20-25 hours a week, mostly evenings and weekends (both Saturday and Sunday), when work is available (the hourly requirement is screening and interviewing time and does not include the time spent traveling to assignments) * Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls * Maintaining regular access to a reliable wireless internet connection in your home for project work (installation and equipment costs, service fees, and related expenses to access an internet connection and computer are not reimbursable) * When working in the field, must be willing to agree to any COVID-19-related protocols put in place by RTI. These could include, among others, wearing face coverings or respiratory protection, gloves, taking temperatures daily, social distancing with survey respondents, and/or completing a health pledge. All safety supplies required for use on the project will be provided by RTI.
