JOB SUMMARY

WIS-TV is looking for a dynamic, experienced, and aggressive assignment editor to oversee our newsgathering operations and complement our talented team of journalists. The ideal candidate is a news junkie who has strong news judgement and can juggle multiple tasks simultaneously. This person must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. A sense of urgency and the ability to make clear and confident decisions is critical. Communicating those decisions is crucial. WIS needs an assignment editor who is not only a leader, but can also generate and curate high-level news content.

General Responsibilities:

Oversee newsgathering (this includes developing story ideas, confirming information, and curating reliable news sources)
Plan and execute daily news coverage across multiple platforms
Manage newsroom resources and logistics
Create and publish content to digital and social media platforms
Monitor scanners and social media
Effectively communicate with news team

Requirements

Sound news judgement
Refined communication skills
Excellent time management
Working understanding of social media platforms
Basic and investigative news gathering skills
Understanding of video and still photography and editing a plus
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field is preferred, equivalent experience considered
Experience as a producer, photographer, or reporter/ MMJ preferred

Candidates must be detail-oriented, professional, and able to regularly work on multiple projects under tight deadlines. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Respond to emails, phone calls, and other forms of correspondence * Book and manage orders * Maintain client databases * Make PowerPoint presentations for sales staff * Organize events, conferences, and other meetings * Ensure all client information is correct * Resolve discrepancies by researching * Compile weekly reports Requirements Candidate must be proficient and have advanced skill levels in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with Wide Orbit is a plus. A positive attitude, successful interpersonal skills, and willingness to learn are essential to the success of this candidate. The MCO will work together with directors and producers in planning newscasts and pre-production activities. The MCO is responsible for the equipment that provides the content of our broadcast on-air program streams. Candidate will be responsible for monitoring multiple air channels, acquiring, ingesting and preparing content, executing playlists, maintaining regulatory compliance, assuring quality control of on air product, and documenting transmission events. This position involves ingesting commercials and programs, timing them and making sure they all play on air properly. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Successful candidate will provide creative input and will work closely with the newscast producer and production crew * Coordinate live and recorded programming for broadcast * Maintaining on air operation to include running commercials, network and local programming * Monitors multiple channels to ensure regulatory compliance and quality signals * Operate Crispin Automation equipment * Follow FCC monitoring and EAS procedures * Observing transmitters and taking readings as necessary * Maintains program logs and reports discrepancies * Executes, edits, updates, and appends playlists * Acquires content from various distributors Requirements * Computer literacy is mandatory * Candidate must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment * Applicant must be able to multi-task * Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills
