Postdoctoral Research Fellowship: Kalish Lab at Boston Children's Hospital

Research Focus: Developmental neuroimmunology

In the Kalish lab, our mission is to use cutting-edge research techniques to understand the early life origins of neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disease. Our goal is to build a translational research platform that can take discoveries from the bedside to the bench and back. Through our commitment to collaboration, mentorship, and scientific excellence, we strive to make a lasting impact on the patients we serve. We are recruiting Post-Doctoral Research Fellows to expand our work on several projects: (1) the role of cytokines and chemokines in early neurodevelopment; (2) mechanisms by which maternal gut-immune axis shapes fetal neurodevelopment; (3) neuro-immune adaptation in the female brain during pregnancy. The research will use animal models, advanced spatial biology, mouse behavior, and brain circuit mapping approaches.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in neurobiology, genomics, or immunology.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in data analysis. Preferred to have familiarity with R, Python, or related scientific programming languages.

  • Preferred to have experience with mouse models, molecular biology, neurobiology and/or immunology, including advanced microscopy/imaging, multi-color flow cytometry, stereotaxic brain injections, or genomics.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

We believe that scientific endeavours proceed in the most innovative fashion when research teams represent a spectrum of human experiences. We recognize the role that institutional racism, sexism, classism, transphobia, and many other forms of structural discrimination have played in impeding the realization of a truly diverse scientific community. As we believe in the inherent value of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging in biomedical research and academia, we are committed to recruiting and advocating for colleagues from a broad field of backgrounds, perspectives, experiences, challenges, and abilities.

About Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School:
