Eaton's Fuel & Motion Control Systems division, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a New Product Development Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MS.

Position Overview:

Engineers in the New Product Development group work directly with engineering teams at top aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus, General Dynamics, Textron (Bell), United Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Dassault, Blue Origin, and Embraer along with many more around the world. Every product is uniquely designed to meet customer specifications. We customize our existing products for new applications and are developing new ways to address changing market demands.

The Jackson facility has approximately 500 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

In this function you will:

  • Initial customer proposals.

  • Detail design and layout of components.

  • Provide analysis of design performance, structural rigidity, durability, etc.

  • Lab development and qualification tests to validate design.

  • Assume responsibility for the design related details of a new product, often requiring cross-functional interaction with manufacturing, quality, marketing, procurement, drafting, analysis, and the customer.

  • Perform calculations to solve engineering and design problems.

  • Participate in lab development tests by preparing test procedures, analyzing test data, and coordinate/supervise testing with a technician and available resources.

  • Design components and test fixtures using PRO/Engineer (CREO) CAD, and create and/or check engineering drawings (machining, forging, casting, and assembly drawings).

  • Compile engineering information and prepare technical specifications, proposals, and reports.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or successful completion of Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering by January 2019) from an accredited institution required

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Jackson, MS will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred

  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling and the creation of detailed drawings

  • Master's Degree with Co-op or engineering intern experience is preferred

  • Experience with Pro Engineer

  • Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma concepts
