Compass Oncology, the largest multi-specialty medical oncology practice in the Pacific Northwest, is looking for a New Patient Coordinator to join our team at our Rose Quarter Cancer Center. Working as part of a team that is on the cutting edge of cancer care and treatment, our LNew Patient Coordinator plays a crucial role in the scheduling and coordination of care for new patients as they navigate the Cancer Care Continuum. This is a hybrid role that will require clinical skills and acumen, with a strong foundation in medical office administration.

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours M-F

Location: Rose Quarter Cancer Center (Tigard, OR)

Salary: $19.16- $30.95 per hour

  • Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate's applicable experience and qualifications, as well as, internal employee equity considerations.

SCOPE:

As a member of our clinical care team, you will serve as the patients' medical liaison among the referring practice, hospital, support services, and payors. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures and applies them to a variety of situations appropriately.

Relies on knowledge, clinical experience, oral and written prowess, sound judgement, and a passion for patient advocacy. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.

Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.

Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.

Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.

Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.

Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including but not limited to, hormones and biological growth factors.

Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.

Processes instruments and equipment as needed.

Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.

Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.

Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and schedules appointments to follow-upon test results, as applicable.

Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.

Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.

Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.

Minimum 1 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.

Phlebotomy experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
