The New Model Program Development Center Body Operations Manager will lead prototype body build, vehicle and component modification, the dimensional department, and the metal fabrication department with salary and purchase service production and operations personnel and hourly employees from two Local UAW units.
The New Model Program Development Center Body Operations Manager will lead prototype body build, vehicle and component modification, the dimensional department, and the metal fabrication department with salary and purchase service production and operations personnel and hourly employees from two Local UAW units.
Provide Strategic Operations direction to manage a team of Salary & Purchase Service Production, Engineering personnel, and Hourly Employees from two Local UAW units, in four different areas over a two-shift operation at the New Model Programs Development Center (NMPDC)
Metal Fabrication (Laser/Press Department, Plastic Shop, Experimental Vehicle Building)
Body Shop
Metrology and Weld Teardown
Closure Installation, Production Re-work, and Vehicle & Component Instrumentation
Establish strong, working relationships with UAW Leadership and Committees to ensure plans and requirements are fully understood and issues are resolved effectively and efficiently
Oversee Body Shop Tooling Design, Build, and Implementation within the build site to facilitate prototype builds
Subject Matter Expert for Global Tooling Strategies and Body Shop Facility start-up SPOC
Responsible for Capital Improvement Projects with both Tooling & Facilities within Body Operations
Provide oversight to transform processes and adopt lean manufacturing principles
Schedule manpower and coordinate materials to meet production requirements to maximize production and minimize downtime
Conduct root cause analysis of production and manufacturing issues to prevent recurrence at Chief Engineer and Director level reviews. Body subject matter expert for interim and permanent containment actions during prototype builds.
Coordinate support plans for UAW Inspectors and Metal Model Maker skilled trade actions during launch at North America's Assembly Plants
Participate in up-front cycle planning; Prepare facility, tooling, and manpower accordingly
Support Stamping Business Unit reworks, Product Development design changes, and containment action trials on an almost daily basis for production, launch, and development
Work with Maintenance to launch new programs and equipment, optimize floor layouts, coordinate equipment refurbishment
Develop training schedules and rotations for both hourly and salary employees
Lead and support Green Belt projects within NMPDC
Drive safe work practices, including housekeeping in all areas
Develop, coach, and support to achieve Ford Operating System (OS) Behaviors and SQDCPME objectives
Competent in the use of data for decision making
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Work well under pressure and be able to work under crisis management when necessary
Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership in One FORD (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
