The New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) is a non-profit community development and social service agency committed to creating opportunities to transform lives in youth and families.NJCDC's Paterson Community Schools Corps (PCSC) AmeriCorps Program seeks candidates with a passion for community development, parent engagement, and education. PCSC Members are individuals who display a desire to serve underprivileged populations, while gaining valuable life and professional experience.
The mission PCSC is to eliminate barriers to academic achievement and provide new opportunities to transform the lives of Paterson youth and families. Members work directly with students, parents, and teachers in high-risk, urban, community-based schools.Throughout the year of service, PCSC AmeriCorps members are engaged in countless hours of personal and professional development to prepare them for careers after AmeriCorps. Program alumni have obtained jobs in the following industries: teaching, social work, law and policy, non-profit, public health, government, Peace Corps, and graduate studies. Additionally, AmeriCorps Members receive a living allowance of $13,732 for the year ($1,144 monthly), federal loan deferment, and an educational award of $5,920 (upon program completion).
