We are seeking an entrepreneurial self-starter with excellent customer service and coaching skills to join the Talent Office as a New Hire Training & Compliance Manager. Reporting to the Senior Manager of New Hire Training & Compliance, this person will play a critical role in the design and implementation of new hire, customer service, and compliance training districtwide.

The New Hire Training & Compliance Manager is expected to successfully oversee and/or perform the following responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group new hire and compliance training programs districtwide to assist in the learning of new skills and to grow staff capacity

  • Partner with managers to identify development opportunities to address via new hire and compliance training program facilitation to meet organizational objectives

  • Identify and recommend modifications to content designers to enhance new hire and compliance training programs, training software platform, resources, and tools

  • Develop data and reporting metrics to monitor and track training completion, ensure staff complete all required training and identify compliance issues

  • Aid in the development and delivery of training and service expectations for CPS Call Centers, frontline and leadership staff

  • Support contact center managers with the development of standard operating procedures and provide training support for large-scale district programs and changes

  • Consult with team members and managers at the conclusion of trainings as needed

  • Responsible for the content, maintenance, and updating of the internal web page and training platform as well as reports on trends for key performance indicators

  • Collaborate with departmental subject matter experts to identify, assess, and define new hire and compliance training needs

  • Partner with vendor staff in the design and curriculum management of new hire and compliance training content by providing business acumen, knowledge, and expertise relative to achieving the learning objectives and priorities

  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline internal processes and procedures

  • Manage training logistics across CPS locations citywide including budgeting, ensuring training environments are properly setup and resourced, ordering materials & supplies, identifying room assignments, and overseeing sign-up and attendance processes and systems

  • Foster an environment that is conducive to adult learning

  • Perform additional ad hoc duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Communications, Business, Marketing, Organizational Effectiveness, or a related field.


  • Minimum of five (5) years of training and development including facilitation experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in a leadership role, leading, coaching, and developing teams preferred

  • Minimum of four (4) years of project management experience preferred

  • Minimum of three (3) years of customer service experience with increasing responsibilities; Call center experience preferred

  • Must have a working knowledge of adult learning principles and the ability to implement these principles in training classes

  • Experience delivering training in person as well as via e-Learning/virtual environments

  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Applications as well as classroom technology

  • Commitment to the highest levels of data integrity

  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with professional demeanor is required

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate with a diverse team and build strong successful relationships throughout the organization

  • Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment; manage multiple projects simultaneously; timely response to email and chat inquires daily

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision


As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.


  • This position requires travel up to 50% of the time to multiple locations across the City of Chicago and requires flexibility to work different schedules as needed
