Software Engineer I (Bachelor's Degree Level) - DECEMBER 2020 & MAY 2021 GRADS ONLY

We are hiring Junior Software Engineers to work alongside and be mentored by the best and the brightest engineers and scientists who are providing radar and sensor solutions which deliver superior detecting, ranging, and tracking for military forces worldwide.

Scope of the project include:

  • Design, development, test, and verification of algorithms supporting the Multi-Spectral Targeting Systems (MTS) programs.

  • An active participant on the integrated product team (IPT) for the Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) business unit; providing embedded real-time software development for the MTS programs. The software development will consist of developing algorithms for a large complex Electro Optic (EO) system.

  • Perform software development and system integration and test for a complex sensor system using Raytheon engineering processes and practices.

  • May also be called upon to provide flight test and field support.

  • Work as part of a large multi-disciplined team to develop the system.

  • Also be asked to use modular design approaches and/or agile software development techniques for a high quality, supportable system.

Key responsibilities for the qualified candidate include:

  • Participating in the full software lifecycle development (requirements analysis, design, implementation and unit testing, software integration and test, system level integration)

  • Performing requirements analysis / definition to ensure system will meet all customer requirements.

  • Integrating system parameters and software solutions into the real-time system and ensure the functionality of the requirement.

  • Participating in code and other software artifacts reviews.

  • Interacting with engineers from other disciplines, such as Systems and Electrical Engineering, to obtain pertinent information required to accomplish tasks.

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:
  • Security Clearance - This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with C/C++ or Ada

  • Applicants must have the ability to manage their own workload and have strong decision analysis skills.

  • Must be able to manage multiple unrelated tasks in an organized manner.

  • Ability to work occasional overtime to support critical program events.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral form, and must be able to team well with others. This includes demonstrated effective communication with internal and external customers.

  • Willing to travel < 10% of the time to support flight tests and off-site integration activities.

This position can be worked remote with up to 25% travel as required. The Software Quality Lead Engineer is responsible for leading, consulting, and mentoring the Software Quality Engineers (SwQEs) across the RI&amp;S business. This role includes directly supporting programs and assisting the SwQEs assigned to those programs to ensure that the Software Engineering work products delivered to our customers meet their specified technical requirements and were developed using appropriate and approved processes and procedures. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to the following: * Ability to work within a cross-functional, matrixed organization in which there is close interaction and collaboration with Program Quality and Engineering. * Ability to develop and implement an effective Software Quality Maturation Strategy designed to provide the business with an intelligent, capable, and value-added SwQE organization. * Possess advanced software and software quality capabilities such as Software Assurance, Cybersecurity, progressive software methodologies, Development, Security, and Operation (DevSecOps) concepts, code analysis techniques, software development pipeline and automation techniques. * Possess advanced software testing techniques, SwQE road map planning and implementation, SwQE course development and delivery. * Must be able to provide innovative leadership, change leadership, software requirements analysis, peer review of software and systems engineering artifacts (source code, design artifacts, test plans and procedures). * Must be able to perform self-guided assessments of software development process compliance, implement defect trend analysis and root cause corrective action (RCCA) activities. * Experience in final software acceptance testing and approval.
