Role Value Proposition:

The primary responsibility of a New Business & Death Claim Representative is to support advisors, clients, and beneficiaries with inquiries concerning newly submitted business, as well as discuss and explain existing annuity business across all distribution channels and products. New Business & Death Claim Services also provides pro-active and follow up outbound calls with advisors and clients. An associate in this position is expected to utilize various resources to assess a situation and determine an appropriate course of action.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answers incoming phone calls regarding annuity products from advisors, clients, and beneficiaries.

  • Discuss all aspects of the annuity business by answering questions pertaining to multiple markets and product lines.

  • Demonstrates consistent proactive communication with internal and external customers and partners.

  • Stays current on procedures, corporate initiatives, annuity markets and products to provide accurate and timely information.

  • Responds promptly and calmly to changing events and new situations.

  • Maintains professionalism during interactions with advisors, clients, and beneficiaries.

  • Cross-trains across franchises in New Business, Post Issue and Death Claims in order to load balance inbound calls.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills :


  • FINRA Series 6 designation

  • 3 or more years of customer service experience

  • Superior customer service and communication skills

  • Demonstrates problem solving and organizational skills

  • Ability to work well under the pressure of working against strict quality and performance guidelines


  • Strong knowledge of MetLifes procedures and processes

  • MS Office; Word & Excel

  • Good computer/typing skills

What You'll Do: As a Customer Service Representative, you will provide quality service to customers through the Life Insurance Contact Center by creating and maintaining a positive relationship with agents and Farm Bureau member policyholders while providing prompt service, education, and processing. This is a call center environment, where you will be answering inbound phone calls during your workday. In this role, you will be responsible for responding to questions concerning multiple types of life policies in a call center environment. You will spend the majority of your day on the phone with our agents and policyholders. Also, you will compose and send letters/emails to policy holders and agents in response to inquiries. Processing will be required to update addresses, change billing modes, social security and beneficiary changes. Strong math skills are needed to calculate cost of insurance and reinstatement requirements. What It Takes to Join Our Team: You must have an Associate's degree or equivalent work experience. Life insurance product and policy knowledge is extremely beneficial, however, we do offer an excellent on the job training program. You must display a strong customer service attitude at all times and be comfortable with communication over the phone. Business professional written communication skills are a must, and a background in finance or banking is a plus. You must have flexibility to organize and process work to meet Farm Bureau standards with limited supervision under tight deadlines.
