Position Summary:

Position supports the New Business capabilities for MassMutual's Life and DI line of business. This includes all applications from Order Entry through Underwriting. This position will be responsible for support a number of different applications across the eco-system with varying languages and application complexity.


  • Design, develop, test, document, and deploy high quality business solutions with the New Business landscape based on industry best practices as well as business needs

  • Manage the process of implementing improvements and new functionality

  • Deliver support and solutions for break/fix issues

  • Communicate and collaborate with other technical resources and stakeholders regarding status, technical issues and creative solutions

  • Collaborate with business analysts and technical staff and be responsible for delivering complete work products

  • Research integration issues and work closely with team members on operations and development staff

  • Research and development of new product offerings and solutions.

  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of applications

  • Build client trust and respect, establish client relationships, and develop rapport with client

  • Participate and engage in all team meetings

  • Document best practices and operational procedures

  • Facilitate continuous improvement within the environment

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience as a developer

  • Knowledge and practical application of Mainframe, SQL, C-Sharpe, VB, Java, JavaScript

  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as excellent communication skills, verbal and written to both technical and non-technical audiences that are in a geographically dispersed environment (conference calls, Skype, face-to-face)

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and on multiple assignments at once

  • Experience functioning & executing work in a fast paced iterative environment such as Agile

  • Take initiative to recommend process improvements and demonstrate creative thinking

  • Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to grasp concepts quickly

This position requires strong interpersonal skills as well as analytical and technical skills. Specific responsibilities: * Product definition – Help define the scope and high-level requirements for new products, then use prototyping tools to develop minimum viable products that can be tested in the market. * Business cases and funding requests – Help develop business cases and proposals to secure approval and funding for new products and services. * Development – Create deliverables for new products and services using analytic and data visualization technologies such as Tableau and Microsoft Power BI. * Standards, methodologies, and tools – Work with others in the Innovation Project Management Office to develop and improve standards, methodologies, and tools for the innovation process. * Education and self-development – Stay current on best practices and tools and techniques required to perform the BA's role. Qualifications Skills required include: * Ability to take product concepts with minimal definition and, working with others, define them enough to gauge market interest and fit. * Experience developing business cases and proposals for new projects. * Experience gathering detailed business requirements for approved projects. * Experience developing deliverables using analytics tools such as Tableau and Power BI. * Must be proactive and able to operate independently. * Must be organized and detail-oriented. * Must have strong interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate and influence people from multiple disciplines and at all levels of the firm. * Experience interacting with executive and senior management. * Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines. * Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects. Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have the following: * Three years of experience in a role similar to the BA's role. * Proficiency using prototyping and analytics tools. * Experience in an entrepreneurial environment is a plus. * Prior experience in or knowledge of professional services industry is a plus. * BA/BS in a business related major (e.g. Information Technology, Accounting, Finance, etc.).
