The Neuro-Surgeon(s) will work in conjunction with the Chief of Surgery and the Medical Director of GVH Trauma Center as well as the Chief Medical Officer; he/she will be responsible for covering all Trauma Call for neurosurgical patients at the GVH Level II Trauma Center

  • 365 days per year, 24 hours per day.

The neurosurgeons will work collegially with GVH Administrators, GVH directors and/or managers, GVH peri-operative services, and physicians to provide administrative, operational, and surgical support to the Neuro-Surgery department, under the direction of the Department of Surgery. Neurosurgical oversight may include working with the Chief of Surgery and the trauma department to collaborate on budgets, expenditures, strategic business planning and development, marketing, IT system optimization, safety and quality.

The neurosurgeons will be members of the Department of Surgery. He/she will report to the Chief of Surgery and in his/her absence, to the Chief Medical Officer. The neurosurgeons will also partner with the Director of Surgical Services and Anesthesia Department to best address emergency neurosurgeries.

Areas of Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with and direction of the Chief of Surgery, Chief Medical Officer, and Trauma Program Medical Director in the following areas:

  • Oversee the establishment of the new Neuro-Surgery service line.

  • Provide Surgical Department leadership, in conjunction with Executive leadership, to achieve strategic goals, priorities, and initiatives.

  • Work to translate goals into actionable business tactics that are aligned with the strategic plans of the department, the GVMP surgical group, and the health system.

  • Oversee all facets of neurosurgery surgical department.

  • Oversee clinical quality data collection and reporting.

  • Engage with clinical and administrative teams to identify, develop, and implement quality and safety strategies of the department.

  • Ensure physician compliance with quality and safety improvement initiatives.

  • Active participation with the surgical and trauma peer review process.

  • Promote professionalism, integrity, and collaboration within the organization.

  • Work with surgical services and physicians to enhance alignment of GVH vision, goals, directives, and benchmarks.

  • Membership in the Perioperative Leadership Committee and attend various other meetings as directed by the CMO.

  • Comply with all Joint Commission, Department of Health, PTSF, and GVH policies and procedural requirements. Abide by GVH Medical Staff By-Laws.

  • Call Coverage of the Level II Trauma Center including every other weekend (Friday 5 p.m. until Monday 8 a.m.), 2 evenings per week, and rotating holidays or as needed to ensure compliance with PTSF standards.

  • Document on Meditech EMR (acute)

Outpatient Responsibilities:

  • When not on-call for the Level II Trauma Center, work collaboratively with Upper Bucks Orthopedic Associates - a Grand View Medical Practice - to care for, treat, and provide appropriate surgical intervention for patients who need neurosurgery/spine surgery.

  • Outpatient practices may include any area that UBOA cares for patients, including but not limited to Sellersville, Quakertown, Pennsburg, Hatfield, Harleysville, Chalfont, Lansdale.

  • 32clinical hours in outpatient practice.

  • Document on Meditech EMR (ambulatory).

Educational Requirements/Licenses:

  • BC/BE in Neurosurgery

  • Completion of a Fellowship in Neurosurgery at an accredited institution

  • PA medical license


  • Eligible to work in the United States.
