Position Summary:

This is a clinical position where the incumbent performs neuro-diagnostic testing including EEG studies in both the outpatient ambulatory and inpatient settings. Incumbent must be technically adept, have excellent patient care and customer service skill sets, and be able to work with severely ill pediatric patient populations.

Position Requirements:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Preparatory coursework in sciences such as biology, anatomy, physiology and/or chemistry. Graduate of approved program in Neurophysiology/Neuro-diagnostics preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 1-5 years of clinical experience in an inpatient or ambulatory setting that includes performance of Neurophysiology/Neuro-diagnostics, including EEG's required.

Must have basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Must be able to work with ill and uncooperative children. Bilingual in Spanish or Southeast Asian languages preferred.

Certification Required: Current American Heart BLS Certification Required.

Must pass department administered proficiency testing. Must complete National Certification testing within 2 years of hire.

Physical Requirements:

Sit: Up to 6 hours/day

Stand/Walk: 4-6 hours

Bend/Stoop: Up to 6 hours

Reach: Up to 6 hours

Rep Use of UE: Up to 6 hours

Lift/Push/Pull: 50 pounds, over 50 pounds with assistance or equipment

The Electroencephalographic Technologist measures electrical activity of brain waves, using electroencephalograph (EEG) instrument, and preferably has experience to perform evoked potential response tests for use in diagnosis of brain and nervous system disorders by performing the following duties. The EEG Technologist performs standard and complex EEG recordings under minimum supervision. Has developed expertise in other electrophysiologic studies. The technologist is responsible for obtaining standard as well as special procedure EEG recordings, is able to monitor additional physiologic phenomena by means of appropriate techniques and instrumentation, may provide training, and may participate in research. High school diploma or equivalent (GED). College levels studies of sciences or other related allied health disciplines. BLS Certification required. Previous experience in a medical environment (neuroanatomy or neurophysiology) preferred. EEG and/or other related work experience a plus. Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to maintain clean and neat work environment. Able to perform outpatient and inpatient EEG. Able to calm and reassure patient prior and during testing. Must maintain confidentiality of patients. Must be able to work as an integral team member and capable of relating information to members and staff in an accurate, tactful manner. Must be highly organized with strong ability to multi-task. Per diem hours Monday-Friday. Possible limited weekend coverage/vacation relief High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
