Duties:
Interface with Engineering and business owners to evaluate network reliability in terms of traffic at risk of packet drops, latency, and path redundancy.
Interface and partner with IP and Optical Transport Engineering teams to understand network design in terms of network reliability and redundancy.
Drive discussions among cross-functional teams including Network Planning, Engineering, Operations, and Implementation to assess and prioritize network risk and develop mitigation plans.
Collaborate with Network Deployment teams to scope out the implementation of risk mitigation plans.
Build a feedback loop between various cross-functional teams (Planning, IP Engineering, Optical Engineering, Operations, Network Software/Systems Engineering) to identify, quantify, and address network risks.
Help define metrics for measuring backbone reliability and work with partner teams to improve them.
Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases.
Communicate and report on current risks, mitigation plan and track executions of these programs.

Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of experience in either planning, engineering, operations, network reliability engineering (NRE), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) on a nationwide or global backbone network.
Three years of experience with protocols such as TCP/IP, IS-IS/OSPF, BGP, and MPLS
Three years of experience in using tools to monitor capacity utilization and network health and participating in design and risk mitigation discussions.
Proven leadership & influence skills to motivate program teams and get things done in a fast-paced environment.
Superior Interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team.

You will contribute to all aspects of the product lifecycle from design risks of design concepts to failure analysis of field returns. You will be responsible for understanding designs and identifying risks associated with different design options. You will be responsible for identifying appropriate stresses that our products must pass and creating validation plans which will be used to validate the reliability of our products. You will be responsible for producing accurate reliability analysis in a timely manner. You will be responsible for providing design suggestions to improve the reliability of our products. We are looking for someone who can wear multiple hats depending on the task at hand. Theideal candidate has a "can do" attitude with a strong background in reliability engineering, high attention to detail, thirst for knowledge, and an inherent interest in all aspects of engineering. RESPONSIBILITIES * Develop reliability requirements for consumer facing hardware Lead stress characterization of appropriate usage conditions Lead and document FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) Develop acceleration models and accelerated tests Develop new reliability test specifications and procedures Develop appropriate test plans Apply design of experiments (DOE) In depth research into applicable failure mechanisms Contribute to failure analysis and use correct methodology to identify root cause of failures Oversee reliability testing and analysis through product lifecycle Provide accurate and in-depth statistical analysis Prepare detailed and concise reliability reports Collaborate with design teams to implement design for reliability into product cycle International travel MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent discipline 3+ years of experience in reliability engineering Knowledge of mechanical design, material science, and failure mechanisms of consumer electronics Experience developing and performing reliability tests including (but not limited to) mechanical, shock, vibration, environmental, and characterization testing Knowledge of industry test standards including ASTM, MIL, JEDEC, and IEEE Knowledge of failure analysis techniques including (but not limited to) optical microscopy, X-Ray, CT scan, SEM, EDX, and FTIR Facebook Menlo Park CA
