GCI's Network Technician Trainee will be a hands-on career opportunity to work directly with skilled technicians, engineers in the fields of a telecommunication's Network Operations industry. Provide operational support for the company's core IP, MPLS, carrier Ethernet, Wireless Data/IP network systems in accordance with design criteria and quality goals. This is an entry-level position within the discipline; must have a basic understanding of Networking, installation, modifications, and test procedures. Ability to execute basic equipment installation, test and turn up under close supervision.

  • Systems Administrator

  • Access protocols, Security

  • Configuration and troubleshooting of CISCO routers and switches.

  • Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers. VLAN

  • Cisco NCS platform.

  • Ethernet and TCP/IP networks

  • 802.11n client authentication and registration process.

  • Linux/UNIX and Windows server.

  • Shell scripting/automation and log file analysis.

  • Internet protocols I/P functionality.

  • Database management, especially SQL.

  • Communicate a reference design using standard office tools such as Visio and other office software.

  • Knowledge of programing languages C++, Java

Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of technical experience focused on, LAN/WAN Networking, Telecommunications, Data/IP networks, data communications, and wireless is desired.

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

  • An associate degree or a combination of relevant experience and /or education /certification; Or military experience; sufficient to substitute for the required year.

Certification: Industry specific certification Cisco-Certified Network Associate, Juniper Network Certified Associate (JNCA and CCNA are highly valued)

AFSC: 3D0X02, ED1X1, 3D1X2 - relate to Core Admin focus.

Physical Requirements:Visual acuity necessary to utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday. Physical effort should include the necessary dexterity to perform the tasks of the job. Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions: Work is performed at company's headquarters during a normal 40-hour workweek and may require additional hours to meet project goals or deadlines. Occasional travel for business and training purposes is required.

The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. You will be requested to provide an emergency after hours contact numbers.

Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.

VIEW JOBS 9/29/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-12-28T00:00 Purpose of the Position: Support a team of network support technicians in providing the highest level of customer satisfaction within the technical network support call center. Will be responsible to ensure defined standards are consistently maintained, following established KPI indicators/reporting guidelines for calls, tickets, scheduling of client network incidents. Working closely with supervisors and managers to examine daily traffic and forecasts to adjust schedules and staff to ensure optimum staffing levels; evaluating trends concerning call patterns, call volumes, traffic flow and customer service to ensure service level objectives are met. Provide reports to management regarding quality standards, and established metrics and benchmarks for recommendations of new and/or updated call/service center technology and process improvements. Collaborate with BTS teams and managment to maintain quality standards ensuring proper evaluation methodology for continuous improvement. Reporting/Audit/KPI Indicators: * Coordinate, direct, and participate in assisting others, serving as an escalation point for resolution of issues within the department for all customer inquiries as the frontline single point of contact (SPOC) resolving internal questions, processes and procedures. * Review and identify/develop needed changes in processes, tools, reports and dashboards. * Following business guidelines and SLA's provide data from reports, dashboards, and email to meet department standards and/or established KPIs in call resolutions, customer satisfaction, ticket completion and scheduling. * Ensure standards are met for inbound and outbound call handling and that all other work activities assigned are completed timely and accurately. * Effectively monitor, evaluate and distribute daily workload using the appropriate systems, including queue monitoring and other tools. * Study of daily, weekly, monthly cases for established standards; identify time logged, case opened and successful completions. Identify anomalies, issues regarding case managing, customer wait time, communication, status notification. * Call metrics using Genesys Purecloud; e-mail (Helpscout) SLA for opening cases and notifying customers. TRAINING/MENTORING: * Work closely with the training and internal departments to identify and develop new hire, ongoing and ad hoc training modules, to ensure excellent customer satisfaction. Provide feedback and daily oversight to identify needs for process and/or changes and necessary tools to attain quality and efficiency. Provide feedback regarding individuals and/or groups that require training; New Hires with GCI University, mentoring or refresher opportunities. * Assist and participate with updating onboarding training for tools * Documentation - maintain database - Recurring Training - role should be aggregate for the list of changes, refinements or issues from frontline. Identify technicians to resolve issues, concerns or need for additional training. * Consistency - everyone receives the same, up to date training based on the current business strategy and business needs. * Ensure teams are up to date with new features, process and focus via communication with leads, management and employees. * Bring chronic issues to BTS Management for corrective action, systematic or individual; must escalate chronic or disciplinary issues to management immediately. Scheduling: * Work closely with Workforce Management to schedule training, lunches, breaks, and any ad hoc off-the-phone initiatives. Assist in planning/scheduling teams to ensure appropriate phone coverage. Ensure center meets or exceeds contractual quality standards, including during peak call volume, break and lunch times. * Actively participate in management meetings, updating staff on current initiatives and process issues and improvements. * Identify escalated call issues that impact case processing and advise supervisors and/or technicians on procedures or process improvements to resolve issues. Minimum qualifications: * Minimum of six years of combined work experience in technical customer service, helpdesk, LAN/WAN Networking, Telecommunications envirnment required. Most activities conducted inside under pleasant climatic conditions. Work can be intense and stressful due to time/resource limitations when scheduling multiple tasks with inflexible deadlines.
