Atlas Technologies, a rapidly expanding company supporting the US Military and other Government entities, is seeking a passionate, flexible, highly motivated team player to join our group of Information Technology professionals. If you are comfortable in intense fast paced environments, can think on your feet, excel in team-based collaborative efforts and can tolerate visiting some of the most exotic locations in the world then this may be the right fit for you. The Network Technician will serve as a subject matter expert for US Navy Network Management Systems utilizing Microsoft and Linux servers as well as routers and switches from various vendors. Will provide support and expertise for Navy networks and associated systems during installation on-board US Navy vessels and in a post-installation environment including remote support and troubleshooting.

You Will:

  • Assist in or lead the installation and/or distance support of networks and servers.

  • Pre-load, configure and test equipment and systems to include servers, workstations, routers, and switches.

  • Provide tier II/III remote support and troubleshooting to operational units worldwide

  • Research issues using available resources.

  • Advise customer on appropriate actions

  • Provide support and integration expertise for U.S. Navy network systems and associated systems during installations on-board Navy Vessels.

  • Provide on-site technical assistance to operational units worldwide.

  • Perform systems operations testing for various U.S. Navy network systems to operational units worldwide.

  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 40%

You Have:

  • A current U.S. Passport or can obtain one within 45 days of employment.

  • 3-5 years experience as a Systems Administrator/Field Engineer/System Analyst

  • A CompTIA Security+CE Certification and IATL2 Certification (MCSE, CCNA, Linux+, etc.)

  • Experience in TCP/IP and common protocols such as FTP, SSH SMTP, DNS, SNMP, and NTP.

  • Experience in routing and switching (Cisco preferred)

  • Experience in system administration (Microsoft or Linux preferred)

  • Experience in VMware ESX and vSphere are desired.

  • Remedy or other help desk ticket system experience is desired.

  • Experience with one or more of the following systems is desired:

  • Integrated Shipboard Network Systems (ISNS)

  • Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise System (CANES)

  • Automated Digital Network System (ADNS)

  • Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System (CENTRIXS)

  • Global Command and Control System (GCCS)

  • SCI Networks

What a Network Technician Does: Essential Functions * Manage and support LAN and WAN Network devices * Implement approved Network changes in accordance with applicable procedures * Analyze and diagnose network problems for a variety of users * Assist other groups in troubleshooting problems that require packet analysis or performance review * Install/troubleshoot/retrieve equipment at remote sites, on board light rail vehicles (LRVs), buses, bus yards, trolley maintenance and corporate locations throughout San Diego county Duties May Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following * Performs maintenance and backups of network switches, routers and appliances. * Maintenance and troubleshooting network communications at station level What MTS is Looking For: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of or ability to learn MTS policies and regulations; ability to read, understand, and apply MTS policies, regulations and union labor contracts; ability to write letters, memoranda and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct English; ability to speak clearly, distinctly and effectively in person-to-person or small-group situations using tact and diplomacy; ability to coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement decisions and delegate responsibilities to appropriate personnel; ability to establish and maintain priorities in order to complete assignments by deadlines without detailed instructions; skill in verifying the accuracy and completeness of forms and reports; knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn and use other software that MTS might have or acquire. Special Skills/Knowledge * Experience with LAN/WAN technologies * Experience with Wireless Technologies * Knowledge of Cisco IOS devices and common commands * Knowledge of enterprise monitoring software such as SolarWinds * Strong organizational skills, problem solving, strategic planning, multi-tasking, quality focus, coordination, technical understanding and a participative style when working within a team environment Physical Requirements The successful candidate must be able to fulfill the physical demands of the job such as walking, stooping, sitting, bending, reaching overhead and occasional lifting (must be able to lift up to 50 pounds). Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and perform tasks involving manual dexterity, such as use of a computer and 10-key. Work will at times require more than 8 hours per day or an irregular work week to perform the essential duties of the position. Duties will be performed primarily in an office type environment and may require travel to external locations and agencies. Experience/Education/Certificates/License(s) An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Network Administration, Network Security, Management Information Systems or a related field is desired. Minimum three (2) years of experience supporting Cisco IOS based devices. Cisco training/certification is highly desired. Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license.
