Network Svc Tech - Physician

Job Summary:

Responsible for the evaluation, planning, implementation, and ongoing support of Internet connectivity within physicians' private practice offices and facilitates network access. Supports the selection and installation of hardware and the introduction of NWPHO/PCPO sponsored applications including software installation and user training.

Essential Functions:

• Works closely with the NWPHO management and NWH HIS to establish and improve physician office information system connectivity and network access.

• Conducts assessment of current physician practice information systems and determines potential methods for connectivity to network applications introduced by NWPHO/PCPO or NWH.

• Helps develop and follow documented processes and policies related to the scope of services to be provided by the Physician Network Services Technician.

• Facilitates the procurement and installation of hardware/software and ISP connections.

• Maintains current data on IS systems and equipment inventories within the individual NWPHO practices in an electronic database.

• Using the "Trouble Call System" for documentation/tracking purposes, addresses connectivity issues, and helps resolve NWH-related system issues. Makes recommendations on resolutions for non-NWH problems as appropriate. Follows up on the corrective action or recommendations to ensure service is re-established.

• Manages the relationship with the PHO's preferred hardware maintenance vendor(s) and serves as a liaison between the physician practices and the vendor for maintenance support that requires an extended amount of time or is beyond the Network Services Technician's scope of knowledge.

• Works closely with the NWPHO management to provide connectivity, hardware support (procurement and maintenance), and basic training support to physician practices in the introduction of advanced information systems applications such as Partners Outlook and the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

• Presents demo of Dragon Speech Recognition Software for PHO members.

• Eliminates any possibility of restoring any data from retired PC form Physicians offices.

• Provides phone technical support to PHO members.

• In conjunction with PHO management, participates in the development of project plans and works under direct supervision of NWPHO IT Team leadership to meet established project goals and timelines. Monitors project status for these separate initiatives and provides status reports regularly.

• Develop an NWPHO-IS "Outreach Program" that includes but is not limited to:

• Routine service follow-up.

• Basic training program/documentation for both NWH and PC applications.

• Monthly and/or as needed, open access forums for one-on-one IS consultation/training;

• Active participation in the Practice Support Program, as scheduled, to provide updates on IS systems for physician practices. '

• Research opportunities for technology and professional enhancement

• Complete special projects as assigned.

Education:

• A certification and Associate Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in Computer Operations and PC hardware.

Experience:

• Two to Three years of Computer Operations with strong customer support, understanding of networking and connectivity, proficiency in PC hardware and software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal skills and support attitude.

• Project management skills are required to ensure effective planning and coordination of hardware, software, and connectivity selection and installation.

• Experience with one or more of the following required: MS Windows OS, Server and Desktop,

• Data Communications and Networking, hospital environment.
