Position Summary Information

Position Purpose

Analyze and resolve network connectivity problems that occur in a wired and wireless environment. Maintain VoIP phone system including servers, office phones, emergency phones, fax lines as well as all associated cabling. Test and evaluate products and applications associated with departmental administrative applications. Provide user support for telephony equipment, tests and maintains all types of cables and/or wiring found in a networked environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Occasional travel required.

Description of Duties

  • Designs, modifies, and maintains voice and data telecommunications systems.

  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot various network, wireless and security camera equipment.

  • Document problems and all steps taken for resolution for tracking and future reference.

  • Install, test, operate and maintain cabling required to connect hardware to the network.

  • Researches market for new hardware and software releases, determines benefits or liabilities on use in the networked environment, telephone or catv systems or instructional technologies and makes recommendations to supervisor on same.

  • Maintain inventory of resources for fixed asset accounting, tracking, and repair orders to vendors, supplies utilization statistics, and ordering information.

Makes decisions on best practices for client systems management, application delivery and testing.

  • Leads IT Technicians as needed for projects.

Minimum Requirements Profile

One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician;

OR

Successful completion of the Information Technology Intern

  • Bachelor Program;

OR

One year of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment, and an associate's degree in any information technology field;

OR

Three years of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment;

OR

An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment.

Background Clearances
