Xtreme, a Pacific Northwest division of DISYS is currently recruiting for a Network Security Engineer. This contract opportunity is with a global auto-manufacturing company in beautiful Portland, OR.
Our client supports a work/life balance, and on-site restaurant options. Having partnered with this client for 20 years, a high percentage of Xtreme consultants are approved for extensions. Additionally, we have an on-site Xtreme support team that is always available to directly assist both the consultants and the client.
This position is a 12-month contract with an excellent chance for extension.

Hands-on experience with Check Point Multi Domain Management, R77.30
Hands-on experience with Fortinet FortiManager, FortiGate
Hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise, Enterprise Security
Hands-on experience managing Check Point/Fortinet Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)
Good CLI troubleshooting skills on Check Point and Fortinet firewalls
Ability to troubleshoot issues with the firewall and security infrastructure
Knowledge of firewalls and enterprise security infrastructure
Knowledge of Cisco networks
Knowledge of Unix operating systems
Knowledge of general information security issues
Knowledge of networking principles
Working knowledge of enterprise application architecture
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Is able to communicate with all levels of management
Ability to draft network and firewall policies and processes
Ability to work independently to achieve departmental goals
Ability to communicate with customers
A high degree of Customer Service skills
Initiative and motivation
Follows through on tasks
Your responsibilities in this role would be:
Administers and trouble shoots the company s network and firewall infrastructure.
Willingness to work with others on problems that may not be specifically Security related.
Willing to continue the learning/training process
A commitment to total quality and the process of continuous improvement
Participates actively in staff meetings and other security and network related discussions
Ability to work in an office environment and interact with others
Willingness to participate in the on-call rotation schedule
General security certifications like CISSP, Security+, CISM
Vendor certifications like Check Point CCSA/CCSE, Fortinet NSE, Splunk Certified Power User
Knowledge of threat intelligence, threat hunting, and OSINT

VIEW JOBS 11/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-09T00:00 Description This is an on-site position to oversee the management and resolution of TriMet's first line support for issues. This involves supporting and troubleshooting Cisco software and technologies for network, telecommunications, and data communications. The position will include assessing and optimizing network design through review and assessment of user needs, including evaluating vendor products and making recommendations for selection, monitoring and responding to communication system problems, resolving system outages and degraded service by working with internal and external technical staff and vendor support, and configuring and implementing system additions and modifications. Efforts may include planning, design, procurement, implementation, operation, and general problem solving. Additionally, the person in this position will provide support, guidance, and training to less experienced and contracted personnel, as well as for end-users. The successful applicant will be responsible for mid-level project management as needed. TriMet's IT Department is a 24/7, high-availability environment and the position requires the individual to be on call as needed. The job requires other duties to be performed as assigned. Essential Functions The following functions are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. 1. Provide first-level support for IT issues related to telecommunications and data communications. 2. Manage all day-to-day activities related to the IT Service Tickets. 3. Assist users in defining and resolving network-related problems. 4. Resolve issues by setting up VPN access; firewall rules; troubleshooting software (e.g. Cisco Switch); configuring wireless access points, devices, ports, cabling, and switches; punch-downs; set up and test new software/telecom applications. 5. Provide prompt, efficient, and effective management of tickets and resolution of issues. 6. Provide oversight and support for all TriMet's IT communication system technologies under the general direction of the Technical services Manager. 7. Successfully communicate and coordinate with customers, departments, tech teams, business partners, and vendors to define issues, resolve tickets, provide training, and develop documentation. 8. Document IT support activities and related procedures. 9. Monitor network infrastructure software and review logs. 10. Serve as back up to Datacom and Telecomm team, including configuring devices, managing inventory, and supporting IVRs. 11. Join staff rotation of off-hours Pager Duty. 12. Monitor adherence to agency standards, policies, and procedures. 13. Assist with budget and contracts for communication network maintenance and services. 14. Perform planning and design of high availability converged communication networks and implement solutions. 15. Manage and document network configurations and performance baselines. Install hardware and software upgrades and expansions. 16. Utilize and maintain network management applications. 17. Assist with budget and contracts for communication network maintenance and services. 18. Oversee projects, including developing formal project plans, scope, timeline, costs, and implementation. Position Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Network Communications Technology, or related field. A minimum of 6 years total credited experience. Experience in network and telecom support preferred. Experience in training and user support for communication systems. Network communication technology certifications desired. Valid Oregon or Washington driver's license and good driving record in line with TriMet policy. Or any equivalent combination of training or experience.
