Job Description:

The Network Product Engineer II is responsible for designing, testing, and troubleshooting network based products and services that our customers consume and for taking products from concept through to deployment. The services this role is responsible for include Internet, Ethernet, Voice, and Cloud products that span across our residential and business services market segments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Utilizes agile methodology through SCRUM to manage the backlog and deliver on commitments.

  • Evaluates new build areas and provides engineering build plans and timelines on what's needed to deploy network based products and services.

  • Provides input to product, project, and general management on issues relating to product development, and project timelines.

  • Works under the direction of senior engineers to create product and service design documentation.

  • Participate in proof of concept design and testing alongside teammates.

  • Creates engineering deployment documentation for all network products and services. These include designs, MOP's, API Guides and the like.

  • Provides input on standards for scripts and tools that help in implementing product functionality, system functionality, and KPI reporting.

  • Assists team in ensuring product delivery is automated and reliable

  • Design and execute test plans and functionality validation in lab environments.

  • Identifies bugs in testing and works expeditiously to correct them before product launch.

  • Provides input on standard software applications to meet product requirements and deliver exceptional experiences to customers.

  • Partners with vendors and internal peer groups to configure and test new systems and technologies on the enablement of new product features or delivery processes.

  • Acts as subject matter expert on the team for1-3 areas of the technology stack which can include but not be limited to: IP Networking, software development, database administration, VOIP, Cloud Ecosystems, Systems Administration, Systems Integration or the like.

  • Responsible for communicating technical and non-technical concepts across a wide variety of groups within the organization.

  • Oversee and complete special projects.

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:

  • BS or BA from an accredited college or university or appropriate combination of education and experience.

  • One or more technical certifications or certificates in IP Networking, Cloud Systems, Systems Administration, VOIP, or Software Development preferred.

Experience/Skills Needed:

  • 3-5 years of progressive IT or telecommunications experience is preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience is required.

  • Understanding of three or more of the following technologies: DHCP, NTP, DNS/ENUM, TFTP, SIP, MGCP, H.248, TLS, XMPP, SMTP, RTCP, TCP, UDP, RTP, IPV4/6, DSCP/TOS, SCTP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, YANG, NetConf

  • Knowledge of fiber optic based transport technologies (PON, C/DWDM, OC-X, SONET)

  • Knowledge in one or more network platform operating systems such as IOS, AOS, SROS, Junos.

  • Familiarity with cloud ecosystems such as VMWare, Kubernetes, OpenStack or similar

  • Familiarity with open source frameworks such as LAMP, and SMACK

  • Familiarity with software repositories and continuous integration and deployment processes (CICD, GIT, Cron, Jenkins)

  • Familiarity with SOAP/XML frameworks and API's

  • Familiarity with the OSI model

  • Demonstrates a high level of transparency, collaboration and communication skills

  • Demonstrates a high level of EQ (emotional intelligence)

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Adaptability with changes to project requirements, and work situations.

This role will create and curate applications that our consumers use along with systems and applications used to test, validate, and deliver these services. Duties and Responsibilities: Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below: * Utilizes agile methodology through SCRUM to manage the backlog and deliver on commitments * Utilize Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CICD) and DevOps best practices to create, test, and validate deployment scripts or development branches used to publish or deploy functionality to customers * Integrate and test delivery systems for products and services * Integrate products and services with new or existing web portals and mobile applications * Integrate network and product delivery systems with north and southbound systems via API under the direction of senior engineers * Ensure telemetry data from syslog and/or SNMP streams are visualized and utilized appropriately under the direction of senior engineers * Configure expert scripts and utilize machine learning algorithms to help create self-healing customers and self-healing networks * Utilize open source and off the shelf systems to facilitate the automated configuration and delivery of services over a variety of systems and Customer Premise Equipment * Works under the direction of senior engineers to test products and services in manual and automated testing environments. Partners with all engineering teams to help facilitate CICD throughout all of our environments * Design, document and facilitate the testing of system Application Programming Interfaces (API) in the development lab * Partner with others to create robust reports and dashboards utilizing various database technologies and data visualization platforms * Make recommendations to architecture, product management, and leadership on how to utilize new technologies * Communicate technical and non-technical concepts to a wide variety of groups within the organization to advance adoption of a new technologies, processes, and initiatives * Act as a subject matter expert for 1-3 different API's and/or coding languages, providing guidance and support to other team members on these coding languages and/or systems * Other duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
