About the Role
This role is based in the Washington, DC area and will report to the Technical Manager, Engineering. Supports on-premise installations of our Figure Eight dedicated platform in classified and unclassified networks for Figure Eight customers in the Washington, DC area.
The Network Operations Engineer works closely with Figure Eight internal resources from Engineering, Dev-Ops, Product and Professional Services as well as with our integration partners to coordinate the installation, troubleshooting, development, operational integration support and support for all Information Assurance and connectivity requirements associated with the installation and maintenance of our dedicated platform at different customer locations and environments.
Most of the work (around 50-60%) will be related to providing remote as well as in-person support to deliver and support the installation and testing of new releases and troubleshooting existing installations of our dedicated platform for on-premise customers in the Washington, DC area.
The rest of the time (around 40-60%) will be dedicated to providing overall production support and troubleshooting production and development issues, at the discretion of the Technical Manager.
Essential Job Functions
Deploys Figure Eight Dedicated production infrastructure and services to on-premise customers
Installs, tests, and troubleshoots Figure Eight installations in unclassified and classified environments onsite in Washington DC customer locations
Provides backup support to Platform Administrator as needed, including troubleshooting support, software bug fixes, and associated deployment issues
Is part of an on-call rotation for production support, troubleshooting production and development issues
Sets up, configures and troubleshoots Docker and Kubernetes
Sets up and configures PostgreSQL and Redis databases
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of on-premise infrastructure, specifically open-source vmware images (qcow2) containing software binaries and system configuration data
Knowledge of site reliability and availability, including end-to-end performance, service monitoring, alert
Knowledge of ETL and ETL workflows (desired)
Skill in managing AWS, specifically ECR, S3, IAM (desired)
Skill in Docker and Kubernetes installation and configuration
Skill in Ansible scripts for deploying software and related configuration settings
Skill in Linux administration (CentOS preferred)
Skill in application deployment in a modern framework, specifically Java, C++, Ruby, Python, .net (desired)
Ability to script in Shell and Python
Ability to configure and support SaaS environments
Ability to support and troubleshoot Proxies, specifically HA Proxy and NGNX
TOP SECRET/SCI DoD Security Clearance (TS/SCI)
At least 5 years of DevOps and system administration experience
At least 3 years in managing virtualized infrastructure
Based in the Washington, DC area
Available a minimum of 10 hours/week
Ability to travel onsite to customer locations in the Washington, DC area
