Network Monitoring Engineer (Lead)
Infrastructure plays an ever increasing role in our clients' businesses today. Whether it be a myriad of connected devices or business critical applications in the data center, network infrastructure is crucial to support their operations. As the network space continues to rapidly evolve and become more software-centric it also needs to reduce the threat surface and adopt a zero-trust model. Our Network and Communication specialists help our clients achieve the most out of their existing infrastructure, and guide them through multi-year transformations that are necessary in the wake of technology disruptions such as cloud and IoT.
Work you'll do
Our practitioners work collaboratively within integrated, cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive strategies that enable Cloud and Infrastructure transformations. Teamwork is crucial as teams are composed of a diverse group of specialists across multiple disciplines from both within our consulting practice and from our clients, helping drive towards a successful outcome. Our practitioners are expected to own and deliver their respective deliverables while managing different clients and other stakeholders.
To assist Client in the implementation of a network equipment status and health monitoring tool that will improve network visibility, a cohesive planning sprint needs to be conducted to address the following areas:
Collect network monitoring requirements
Assess USC-owned monitoring tools and provide recommended solutions
Facilitate decision-making process for USC to select the monitoring tool
Document event management process
Once the network equipment status and health monitoring tool is selected, Deloitte will then move into the implementation phase of the engagement. A monitoring tool is essential to providing network visibility allowing for the continued success of the University to make sure USC is building upon the improvements achieved over the past two decades.

Cloud Engineering supports our clients as they improve agility and resilience, and identifies opportunities to reduce IT operations spend through automation by enabling Cloud. We accelerate our clients towards a technology-driven future, leveraging vendor solutions and Deloitte-developed software products, tools, and accelerators.
A Lead at Deloitte is expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways, including:
Client Management: Manage day to day interactions with executive clients and sponsors
Delivery: Manage and deliver components of client engagements that identify, design, and implement technology and creative business solutions for large companies. Responsibilities include, managing teams in the identification of business requirements, functional design, process design (including scenario design, flow mapping), prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures.
Business Development: Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients; organize and lead pursuit teams; participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process; contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategies
Practice Development & Eminence: Develop practical solutions and methodologies; develop "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents; participate in public speaking events; get published in industry periodicals
People Development: Perform role of counselor and coach; provide input and guidance into the staffing process; actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities; provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices
Expert experience with enterprise networking technologies, tools & processes, including routing & switching, L4-7 traffic management (e.g. load balancing), firewalls, datacenter fabric, campus networks, as well as networking protocols such as TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, etc.
Expert experience with installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and supporting of networking equipment hands on keyboard experience
Experience in documenting and explaining network topologies
Experience with network segmentation and knowledge of network segmentation leading practices
Ability to engineer, build, and test networks for optimum throughput and reliability
Expert knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, IPAM, SSL/TLS, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, LDAP, and Microsoft AD)
Understanding and implementation of network traffic analysis for troubleshooting
Prior experience in working with technical teams and/or transformation programs related to networking technologies
Familiarity with the latest technology trends in the network domain including Cloud, SDN, NFV and open networking (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, VXLANs, etc.)
Exposure to or experience with programming/scripting languages or tools used to automate networks (e.g. Python)
Strong Client Relationship Skills
Ability to create critical collaterals for client workshops and customer interactive sessions
Excellent articulation, communication and strong inter personal skills
Experience in participating in transformation initiatives for mid to large scale organizations
Proven ability towards assisting business process improvement initiatives
Ability to work with a multi-location team
10+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience
Network certifications e.g. CCIE, or equivalent
Experience in assessment and implementation of policy-driven change and configuration management to support Network Virtualization, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Define Networking (SDN) adoption
Knowledge of industry best practices for designing, implementing, and maintaining network security and service availability throughout the system life cycle
Knowledge and experience with Python, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Perl or other languages
