Network Management Software Test Engineer for Cisco's IoT NMS QA Team.

The Business Entity & The Team

Cisco Internet of Things System & Software Group (IoTSSG) is looking for a Test Engineer to test the NMS Software managing millions of smart devices including electric/gas meters, grid sensors/controllers, distribution automation devices, edge routers, etc. The platform is based on the latest open standards from IETF and IEEE to enable end-to-end IP connectivity to every device. The position is based in Cisco's San Jose campus where you will work with engineers, marketing, partners and customer's deployments and POC projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Participate and work closely with developers at various stages fspec, design reviews to develop detailed test plans, tools, utilities.

  • Design, Install and Maintain QA Test beds, test topologies based on Customer deployment models.

  • Perform Solution level tests, Feature and Regression, Stress on ongoing releases.

  • Assist development engineers in product defect diagnosis.

  • Initiate and participate in efforts to improve group productivity and test effectiveness.

  • Participate in customer calls and assist in troubleshooting, data gathering and communicating resolution/fixes.

  • Present findings to wider teams when opportunities are available.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MSEE/CS with 5-7 years of experience
  • BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience

Desired Skills:

  • CCNA, CCNP Routing and Switching

  • Experience with mesh networks and / or sensor networks

  • Strong understanding of internet protocols (IPv4/IPv6/ICMPv6/TCP/UDP/DHCPv6/Netconf/HTTPS/WSMA)

  • Experience with SOAPUI, RESTful API testing

  • Knowledge of 3G/4G, Wimax, Wifi and other wireless technologies is a plus

  • Good Understanding of PKI infrastructure

  • UI Application testing and experience with GUI Automation tool

  • Working experience of Virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Hyper-V, KVM.

  • Agile Methodology experience is a plus

  • Strong communication and leadership skills are essential. Must be a strong team player and have excellent collaborating skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Participate and work closely with developers at various stages Functional Specs, design reviews to develop Solution test plans, tools, utilities.

  • Drive authoring of detail Solution test plans, Test bed designs, test topologies.

  • Reproduce customer defects in QA testbed and work with Development Engineers to test complex solutions.

  • Set up complex test beds based on Project requirements

  • Develop python scripts for automated testing.

  • Initiate and participate in efforts to improve group productivity and test effectiveness.

  • Participate in customer calls and assist in troubleshooting, data gathering and communicating resolution/fixes.

As a member of this team, you will help set the foundation for Cisco's IOT Products/Software to help deliver on the IoT initiative across different verticals.
