The LCRA Telecom team is searching for a Land Mobile Radio Technician II! LCRA Telecom is dedicated to keeping LCRA and its customers connected. As a team, we operate and maintain one of the largest and most sophisticated private communications networks in Texas including a state-of-the-art 700/900 MHz Critical Communications radio system. LCRA provides critical communications services for a diverse customer base including utilities, transit systems, flood warning management, school districts, public safety as well as internal LCRA customers. You will be trusted to:
Install, troubleshoot and program 2 way radio and dispatch equipment. Interpret schematics, drawings and technical manuals necessary to install, repair and align 2 way radios to spec.
Understand and troubleshoot 12vdc systems including relays, timers, switches, etc.
Have good understanding and proper use of hand tools and power tools in performing repair and maintenance tasks.
Good understanding of MS Office products and computer skills
Provide support and exceptional customer service to public safety and non-public safety customers, technicians, analysts and engineers.
Perform work by traveling independently or with a small crew to various locations in central Texas.
Follow LCRA Safety and Operating Procedures and Guidelines.
Document changes made to systems or equipment through appropriate communications and record keeping practices. Documents work into logs, files, system prints and other records and through communications, both verbal and written, with other team members and supervisors.
Read and evaluate wiring diagrams, blueprints and schematics.
Provide accurate and detailed documentation of maintenance activities, operating logs, and equipment repairs.
Assist senior level technicians in the evaluation of new products and services. Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May direct work and schedules of other staff members which include but not limited to equipment installations.
Provide on-call coverage as needed.
You qualify with:
Three or more years of experience in one or more of the following networking technologies: WAN - MPLS, LAN - Route/Switch, DWDM, RF/Microwave Radio, 700/900MHz Trunked Radio (LMR) and/or LTE. A bachelor's or associate degree in computer science or related field. An industry professional-level certification may be substituted for certain years of experience.
Driver's License
You are a great fit with:
Experience in analog, Project 25 conventional and trunked radio systems
Experience with programming and troubleshooting Harris, Motorola, and\or other commercial LMR equipment
Degree(s) in electronics technology, telecommunications technology, computer science or relevant field
