The LCRD Network Engineer will manage the development of the LCRD secure network. The Network Engineer will interact with the project team and other organizations for the successful network design, information assurance compliance, testing and operation and maintenance of network COMSEC.

Perform configuration on mid-level Cisco routers, gigabit switches, and IGX transmission media. Perform Unix/Windows administration duties including administration of Windows/UNIX based operating systems, and minor scripts/batch files. Provide guidance to management for current and proposed investments in telecommunications and network facilities.

Construct the overall system architecture of the technical solution, to include external and internal interface analysis, internal interface definition, and functional requirement allocations. Strong communication skills required. TS/SCI clearance required.

  • Create ground segment architecture in support a of a closed National Security System, facilitate the Risk Management Process(RMF), complete ALL requirements to obtain an Authority to Operate (ATO) at the SECRET level, and complete the process for a certified facility authorization for a COMSEC Fixed Facility (CCF) Order communication security (COMSEC) aids, establish/design new cryptographic network, chose IP encryptors, and design inter-connectivity infrastructure within the CNSSI, NISSP, NSA, governmental directives and regulatory guidance. Served as ISSO for 4 separate domains, Orignal Derivative Classification Authority, and SME with the Information Assurance Technical (IAT) domain. Serve as system engineer for creation, extension, and implementation of adjacent LCRD flight hardware during Integration and Testing (I&T), Mission Operations and Testing (MOT), and Space Vehicle Integration and Testing (SV I&T)


Requires 12 to 15 years with BS/BA or 10 to 13 years with MS/MA or 7 to 9 years with Ph.D.

Space flight electronics development

Comsec experience / Information Assurance

Knowledge of Spacewire, 1553 spacecraft data bus

Strong technical, communications, and coordination skills (written and oral)

Strong leadership skills

B.S. in engineering, mathematics, physics, or equivalent experience
10+ years in support of space systems

The selected individual will support Next Generation optical communication ground terminal studies for the NASA Space network. Leidos is part of Space Communications Network Services (SCNS) team that is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks. This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Duties and Responsibilities: * Leading all system engineering actives required to support optical communication R&D studies. * Coordinate and review modeling, simulation, and analysis of optical communication technologies, techniques, and operational concepts. * Developing technical documentation including requirements, interface control, verification, and operation concept documents. * Evaluating potential optical communication architectures and ground station locations. * Identifying system performance analyses, trade studies, risks and associated mitigations. * Developing test plans and procedures for optical communications technologies and techniques. * Supporting the development, coordination, and presentation of Key Decision Point (KDP) Presentations (e.g. PDCR, PDR, CDR, SRR, SIR, SAR, ORR, etc.) Typical Education and Qualifications: * Master's degree in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field and 15+ years of related work experience in field. * 5+ years of using coordinate and review modeling, simulation, and analysis of optical communication technologies, techniques, and operational concepts. * 5+ years of developing test plans and procedures for optical communications technologies and techniques. * Prior experience NASA or other federal government agency projects.
