Select Medical is looking for a proactive, results-oriented, Network Engineer to assist in engineering and managing solutions in support of our network infrastructure in Select Medical's hospitals, clinics, and administrative locations across the country. Our network architecture and engineering group assists in the design and support of the networks and connections to those locations as well as the wired and wireless networks within those 1,800+ locations. This position also assists in the engineering and support of two data centers and their associated infrastructure as well as a remote disaster recovery location.
This position is responsible for managing and implementing projects to support business initiatives and the new technologies required to support them.
This position will also focus on using our existing toolsets as well as evaluating others in order to improve Select Medical's ability to proactively monitor its sites including outages, utilization, service degradations, and traffic analysis.
The position also provides tier 3 support to the Network Operations group and field IS staff in the troubleshooting and diagnosis of network connectivity issues. The impact of these problems can vary from a complex issue within a single application to site-wide or company-wide issues. Network Engineers must understand multiple technologies including wireless networks, routing protocols, wide area network optimizers, switching, and have a working knowledge of firewalls. Network Engineers must be able to work with and coordinate multiple internal groups and external vendors as necessary, and be able to resolve most problems with little direct supervision.
This position reports to the Supervisor - Network Architecture and Engineering.
Be able to design and implement solutions for new technologies, new services, and business initiatives based on requirements and requests from our clinical and business teams.
Lead multi-site or complex projects to implement new or changed network infrastructure.
Be able to diagnose, investigate, and troubleshoot complex problems and determine the root cause of the problem.
Provide solutions and serve as a subject matter expert for current and future network tools within Select's environment.
Communicate status about projects, problems and their resolution to other IS groups, clinic managers, hospital CEOs, directors, vice presidents, or other key staff.
Work directly with field IS support staff stationed in many remote locations on complex issues that have been escalated.
Assist other groups in diagnosing complex problems with applications using network logging, monitoring and analysis tools.
Monitor and report on any security violations related to the unwarranted access to corporate data.
Adhere to corporate Change Control procedures.
Support the mission and direction of Select Medical Information Services as well as the company as a whole.
BS or BA degree in Business Systems, Computer Science or Information Systems or other equivalent education or experience.
5 or more years' of experience managing/designing/implementing wired and wireless networks including Cisco IOS in a multi-site organization, MPLS and routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP or OSPF, Cisco DMVPN over broadband or equivalent site-to-site VPN technology, SD-WAN, and WAN optimization technology or equivalent technologies.
Extensive experience with network management tools such as CA Spectrum, CA NetFlow Analysis (NetQoS), SolarWinds, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, PRTG, or WireShark. Experience with similar tools will be considered a plus.
Working knowledge of Microsoft DHCP and DNS. Experience doing DHCP server migrations is a plus
CCNA or CCNP or equivalent experience.
Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills a must.

Must possess excellent time management, documentation, and organizational skills.
Prior healthcare environment experience is preferred.
