Job Summary

As a Network Engineer you will design, program, maintain, optimize, and support logical wired and wireless networks, including network optimization, infrastructure implementation, and network equipment configuration. You may work in any or all of the 3 layers of networks. You will design/maintain network and data center architectures, internetworking troubleshooting, network management, network availability, admission control, capacity planning, switch, and router management. Includes requirement and vendor analysis.

• Product support for a system

• Network modeling/design

• Hardware component setup, installation, and configuration

• Component testing

• Maintain and increase expertise through conferences and training sessions

• May supervise part-time employees

What we are looking for:

Education and Experience:

This position provides an opportunity for people of varying levels of skill. If you have a lot of education, experience, and skill, we¿ll compensate you accordingly. If you are early in your career, this could be a great opportunity for you, too. Different levels of pay are assigned by the hiring department depending on experience/education/skills and business needs.

Early Career Professional: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of a combination of education and engineering experience

Professional: Bachelor¿s degree and two years of engineering experience required (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). Experience in network virtualization is required.

Senior Professional: Bachelor's degree and five years of engineering experience required, or master's degree and three years of engineering experience. A minimum of two years of technical supervisory experience required (part-time or full-time) included in the general experience above. Experience in network virtualization required.

Skills, abilities, or knowledge:

You are not required to have experience in all areas listed below. What you don¿t know we can teach you. We are seeking the most qualified candidates; the more you have, the more likely you are to be selected. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skills.

Core Technical Skills:

Be conversant in two or more of the following areas:

• Networking Core Technologies: IP internetworking, LAN switching, Optical, Dynamic IP routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Multicast); WAN design and protocols (MPLS, TDM, DWDM); LAN technologies driving current and next generation data center designs (core switching, load balancing, and security).

• DNS and DHCP

• Layer 2 technologies (Spanning Tree- PVST, Rapid-PVST, Port Aggregation- LACP/PAgP, Trunking- 802.1q, DHCP snooping, MAC address per port limiting, Access Lists- Standard and Extended)

• "Ability to design Layer 2 networks:

• Switching network design, fiber & copper design and install, pathway, cabling, and documentation, USP design, communications room layout, wireless network design"

• Layer 3 Technologies (MPLS- VPN, TE, Routing protocols, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, EVPN). Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues at layers 1-3

• Service Oriented Architecture (SOAP and REST web services)

• Network architectures

• Fiber theory

• Data center architectures

• Network Automation

Related Technical Skills:

Be conversant with most of the following areas

• Stateful inspection systems, Firewall, SSL, VPN.

• Firewall appliance management

• Awareness of collaboration protocols desired (video, audio, sip, pstn).

• Internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment

• Network management, network availability, and capacity planning

• Network Admission control (802.1x)

• Packet shaping

• Software (Aruba AOS, CX IOS, Arista EOS, Wireless control system, Clearpass, Firewall PAN-OS)

• Switch management

• Router management

• Load balancing

• Operating Environments: Windows, Linux, OS X, Android, iOS, etc.

• Client/server

• Service development

• Infrastructure implementation (repository implementation, monitoring and management systems)

• AutoCad, Visio, and Lucid
