POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Overview:
The goals of the Network Engineer in the Information Technology Department are to: Work with third-party providers to keep WAN & LAN networks (voice/data) running efficiently and securely, Maintain IT and digital communication infrastructure, including wireless or LAN networks, Making sure that the networks are protected from malware and viruses, identifying areas that might be under threat and areas where security can be improved, keeping up to date on ever-changing cyber-threats, Ensure backups of critical systems/servers are taking place at regular intervals in accordance with company policies, Maintain firewalls and establish then maintain company-wide access policies to the internet, Performing analysis and collecting data to establish the potential for improvements within the communication networks, Assist IT team members in research, implementation, configuration, and administration of the organization's computing security environment, Work with the LES Sr. Network Engineer to maintain and update the company hyper-converged Nutanix solution and Cohesity backup solution.
Essential Functions
Assists with the performance of day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability, and serviceability within minimal interruption.
Provides technical support, responds to work orders and tickets from the users, analyzes and solves reported network problems.
Assists in the configuration of firewall security settings to access permissions groups for individuals and sets up provisions for incoming data.
Assists in the development and production of complex documentation for installation, network topology, and troubleshooting of communications hardware or software.
Assists the Sr. Network Engineer with our backup solution.
Respond to automated alerts and requests from the Helpdesk software system and various security partners.
Ensure requests are completed in a timely manner and that IT Management is updated regularly of any unresolved issues or potential high risk IT situations.
Maintain an enterprise wide listing of all LES Server and Network Infrastructure assets.
Identify warranty status and refer defective server and infrastructure equipment to manufacturer for repair or replacement while maintaining the production environment.
Works with the IT Team to coordinate and install server updates and certificates.
Server systems support, administration, and documentation.
LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN installation and troubleshooting.
Create and maintain IT related end user training documentation.
Have excellent time keeping and prioritization management skills.
Adhere to, support, and foster compliance in end users of the LES IT framework, policies, and procedures.
Be a strong team player that continually strives to grow the role within LES.
Participate in our on-call rotation as needed and required.
Knowledge and Skills
Required Technical Skills:
Ability to troubleshoot current Windows, as well as Server Operating Systems
Server OS patching and hardware support
Experience troubleshooting LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
Understanding of network segmentation (sub-netting) and VLANS
Experience with a patch management solution (WSUS or similar)
Familiarity or working knowledge of hypervisor based servers and computing. Nutanix AHV a+
Desired Technical Skills:
Citrix XenApp Server Support (Studio, Director, Storefront, Apps)
Active Directory domain infrastructure
Group Policy for domain-wide computer and user policies
NTFS file permissions
Security focus on device hardening and identity management.
Education and Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience working in an IT department performing similar duties.
Professional Certifications such as MCP, A+, and Network+ or higher are preferred.
