Position Summary

Primarily responsible for designing, troubleshooting, supporting, and deploying computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), firewalls, security appliances, and other data communications systems within the L&W Gaming network. Will participate or lead projects as the network subject matter expert through the evaluation, design, and deployment phases.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Defines in written documents non-functional requirements (availability, interoperability, portability, manageability, scalability, maintainability, security, monitoring, SLAs, KPIs, regulatory and legal compliance) based on business vision, best practices, and enterprise architecture direction.

  • Performs tier II escalation troubleshooting and support for internal and external customer networks within the L&W Gaming network.

  • Performs network maintenance and upgrades as required. Monitors network elements and research anomalies such as bandwidth, response time, CPU, and memory thresholds.

  • Maintains and supports the Solarwinds NMS system elements, alerts, and databases.

  • Maintains standard network configurations in routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • Maintains network Visio documentation and IP Address management.

  • Reviews daily/monthly reports of network outages and issues.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves network WAN outages and escalates with telecom provider as needed.

  • Research, resolves, and documents Syslog generated error messages.

  • Provides change management support for network projects as needed.

  • Coordinate installation and provisioning of network equipment with customers, field service, and ISP's.

  • Provides 24/7 on call support on a rotational basis.

  • Design and support of the network and security infrastructure in the various Linked Games data centers and Amazon Web Services cloud.

  • Acts as a lead in component architecture and participates in enterprise architecture activity.

  • Design, implement, and effectively communicate network architecture to various technical and non-technical groups both written and verbally.

  • Establishes and maintains SNMP monitoring thresholds for routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • Configure and test systems to insure high availability and security.

  • Work with and consult with systems, network, and software engineers and architects on designs and specifications.

  • Identifies network and security issues, develops solutions, and independently manages project plans.

  • Establish and maintain threshold metrics for the various elements within the network.

  • Evaluate, establish, and maintain security policies for network elements, routers, firewalls, and switches.

  • Provides mentoring and training to the other network engineers.

  • Researches and performs network modeling, analysis, circuit sizing forecasts, and planning.

  • Develop a strategic network infrastructure that is scalable to meet application roadmaps as well as being secure and capable of adapting to security requirements.

  • Provides management reports and position papers on emerging network and security technologies.

  • Performs tier 2 escalation troubleshooting and support for internal and external customer networks.

  • Executes security controls, defenses, and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company systems.

  • Administers cybersecurity policies to control physical and virtual access to systems.

  • Performs network security audits and testing and evaluates system security configurations to ensure efficacy and compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Conducts penetration testing and vulnerability assessments of applications, operating systems and/or networks. Develops and performs remediation of identified security vulnerabilities.

Training and/or Experience:

  • 3+ years supporting a large enterprise network.

  • Cisco CCNA required.

  • CCNP or CCIE certification preferred in either Routing and Switching, Security, or Data Center

  • (ISC)² SSCP or CISSP security certification desired.

Qualifications

Education:

  • BS or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field (or commensurate experience)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF and BGP.

  • Demonstrable experience with a large range of AWS cloud capabilities including but not limited to S3, Route 53, ACM, Lambda, KMS, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, RDS, Elasticache, VPC's, IAM, EC2, ECS, EKS, access management and automated deployments.

  • Advanced knowledge to troubleshoot, design, and support routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF and BGP

  • Advanced knowledge in supporting and troubleshooting VPN Technologies - IPSec, DMVPN, and site to site VPN solutions.

  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Cisco networking devices such as layer 2/3 switches, routers, and firewalls.

  • Advanced knowledge of spanning-tree, VTP, port channels and load balancing

  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, including packet-level traffic analysis and troubleshooting using Wireshark

  • Knowledge of one or more scripting languages such as Powershell, TCL, or Python desired.

  • Knowledge of network monitoring protocols (SNMP) and systems such as Solarwinds.

  • Knowledge of trouble ticketing systems and methodologies.

  • Ability to create and maintain Visio and Excel network documentation.

  • Understanding of IP concepts including routing, sub-netting, and VLANs.

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP including IPv4 and IPv6.

  • Requires excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills.

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to align cross functional teams and objectives and promote team outcomes.

  • Apply group problem solving and design making techniques to build understanding and agreement among people to achieve shared outcomes.

  • Experience with network lab virtualization software; GNS3 and VIRL, to test new software and configuration changes and designs.

  • Experience with wireless WAN Technologies and equipment such as DIGI cellular routers.

  • Knowledge of the configuration and the administration of Cisco ISE identity and access control policy platform.

  • Experience with Cisco UCS.

  • Familiarity with Cisco Smart Licensing.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Requires excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions that are based on sound judgment and business rationale.
