Under minimal supervision, the Network Engineer III assists in the development and maintenance of network communications and provides overall support for branch and home office Network systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide overall support for branch and home office Network systems including routers, switches, hubs, and Network maintenance and support equipment.
Interact with all data vendors to ensure adequate service, support, and maintenance.
Work with wiring contractors to oversee accurate installation of new wiring and cables.
Participate in new branch set up and branch moves.
Maintain proper system documentation and diagrams as it pertains to change management control.
Proactively monitor service level performance of hardware and software. Report any performance issues to Senior Network personnel.
Perform periodic analysis of data systems and make recommendations to present to management.
Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues that involve firewalls, routers, network applications, and WAN circuits (T-1, T-3, OC-3, ISDN, HDLC, ATM, Frame Relay, and MPLS).
Troubleshoot network systems and recommend improvements to the network.
Provide documentation/project tracking and management reporting.
Provide tactical and strategic input on overall network planning and related projects.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications equipment.
Ensure network specifications comply with industry standards and protocols.
Monitor performance of network to ensure that failure of one segment does not cause gridlock or failure of whole system.
On-call rotation of after-hours support is required.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience required.
5-7 years' troubleshooting Network problems in a local and remote environment required.
5-7 years' customer service experience required.
Experience in high availability 24x7 environment.
Familiar with a variety of field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Ability to demonstrate proactive approach to problem resolution, strong troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
Ability to work independently or as a team player to produce effective results in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of compliance functions within a financial organization will be a plus.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other standard office procedures and terminology.
Effective communication skills and ability to relay information well in both written and verbal form.
Ability to manage priorities, deadlines and tasks in order to meet deadlines and to accomplish goals.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify complex problems; review related information and develop options and implement solutions.
Expert knowledge in PPP, Frame Relay, MPLS, VPN, ATM, ISDN, and HDLC.
Experience in troubleshooting Network protocols including, but not limited to BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MGCP.
Solid understanding of network infrastructure running VoIP, QoS, SIP, MGCP, H323, and video.
