Network Engineer II
Cherry Hill, NJ | 6 Month + Contract
Overview:
Our partner, one of the Nation's leading IT hardware, software, and solutions providers is in search of a Network Engineer to support their client in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Their client is quickly growing and has numerous projects that require support in the areas of SDWAN, network monitoring & management and call center deployments. They're looking for someone who is hungry to take on work, eager to learn and grow within their organization.
In this role you will be reporting directly to the Manager of Network Engineering and Operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Serve as Network Engineer and assist a team of highly-skilled engineers
Maintain Network Performance by assisting with configurations and connections
Troubleshooting of network problems
Assist Network Engineering group in adhering to process and procedures laid out by management.
Assist team in documentation, review and enhance network topology and performance
Share team responsibility for capacity and availability planning and reporting on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
Must be capable of requirements analysis for network systems
Monitor network performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages
Schedule upgrades and collaborate with Senior Engineers on network optimization
Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information, managing projects
Plan and document new deployments and the associated network infrastructure changes
Infrastructure device upgrades or replacements
Investigate, troubleshoot, isolate, and document problems
Research, analyze and implement software patches or hardware changes
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other areas of the infrastructure and applications teams
Provide off-hours operational support when necessary and participate in the on-call rotation.
Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance changes during off hours
Other duties may be assigned
Technical Experience:
Special emphasis on routing, switching, and security network engineering topics.
Knowledge of Enterprise class Cisco network switches and routers. Nexus experience is preferred (39xx,29xx,69xx, 2960)
Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS routers, ASA Firewalls, Palo Alto Firewalls
Experience with wireless networking technologies in the 802.11 protocol suite is required
Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and 3 switching including STP, ARP, 802.1q VLANs, VTP, HSRP
Knowledge of the ability to design, implement and support enterprise network routing architectures using protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF and static routing.
Knowledge of Firewall and remote access solutions including Access-lists, NAT, SSL and IPSEC VPN, Site-to-Site and tunnels, Client-to-Site, and RSA.
Strong Knowledge of WAN circuit technologies and troubleshooting (T1, DS3, Ethernet).
Experience with network management applications and related protocols such as SNMP and Netflow is required.
Knowledge of VOIP (Cisco and/or Interactive intelligence preferred).
Strong knowledge of VLANs, QOS, Firewalls, IDS/IPS design, IPSEC/SSL VPNs, and MPLS.
Understanding of and experience applying Information Security concepts to core network infrastructure and data transport is required.
Knowledge of A10 Load Balancers a plus
Knowledge of Network Tools like: Solarwinds, Liveaction, Cisco Prime
Working knowledge of packet analysis technology and the ability to apply the knowledge quickly when troubleshooting a problem
Ability to conduct research into networking issues and problems as required.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
