IDS is seeking a Network Engineer with cyber experience to support the Cyber & Social Media department in the development of cyber technology and responsible for day-to-day maintenance and management of organization's IT infrastructure to ensure delivery of the agreed level of internal information technology (IT) services. This individual will act as the primary network security contact for specialists. In addition, the network engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity and efficient operation of secure communications that support core organizational functions.
Manages network system of the company, handling day-to-day operations while monitoring both local area networks and wide area networks and their related equipment
Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; monitoring access
Safeguard the data network, by installing firewalls, evaluate software and hardware, monitor traffic, install filters and test the network for weaknesses
Performs system design and administration of cyber security compliant infrastructure that includes network, operating system, etc.
Assists with the installation and configuration of network security architectures, including firewalls, Demilitarized Zones (DMZ), router ACLs (Access Control Lists), and web content filters
Ensures network security infrastructure devices are maintained at the appropriate patch and software levels
Monitors and manages network system security alerts and notifications patches, in addition to implementing configuration changes to remediate vulnerabilities
Performs planning of hardware maintenance and upgrades that include planning changes to network hardware, operating systems, and attached devices
Works with IDS' software development team on our proprietary cyber training environment
Builds out military and training scenarios for offensive and defensive cyber trainings
Works with the business development on technical writing to include; proposals, white papers and market analysis and performance work statements
Attends and support off-site customer engagement meetings and demonstrations as needed
Develops key business relationships in DOD space to include National Security Agency (NSA)
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, network security, cybersecurity or related degree
Three to five years of experience as an IT specialist or system administrator
Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance
Obtained certification for either Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred
Knowledge of current security trends, vulnerabilities, and threats
Hands-on experience in networking, routing and switching, firewalls, Internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
Ability to maintain internal and external communications, data storage and server systems
Well-versed in troubleshooting server problems
Must have completed one or more of the following trainings: Juniper, Cisco, CWNA or BCNE
Must have knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Windows system administration
RHEL/Linux system administration
Compliance scanning/vulnerability assessment
Experience with process development and deployment
Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Most positions require the ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
