Network Engineer I

Cherry Hill, NJ | 6 Month + Contract

Our partner, one of the Nation's leading IT hardware, software, and solutions providers is in search of a Network Engineer to support their client in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Their client is quickly growing and has numerous projects that require support in the areas of SDWAN, network monitoring & management and call center deployments. They're looking for someone who is hungry to take on work, eager to learn and grow within their organization.

In this role you will be reporting directly to the Manager of Network Engineering and Operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as Network Engineer and assist a team of highly-skilled engineers

  • Maintain Network Performance by assisting with configurations and connections

  • Troubleshooting of network problems

  • Assist Network Engineering group in adhering to process and procedures laid out by management.

  • Assist team in documentation, review and enhance network topology and performance

  • Share team responsibility for capacity and availability planning and reporting on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.

  • Must be capable of requirements analysis for network systems

  • Monitor network performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages

  • Schedule upgrades and collaborate with Senior Engineers on network optimization

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

  • Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information, managing projects

  • Plan and document new deployments and the associated network infrastructure changes

  • Infrastructure device upgrades or replacements

  • Investigate, troubleshoot, isolate, and document problems

  • Research, analyze and implement software patches or hardware changes

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other areas of the infrastructure and applications teams

  • Provide off-hours operational support when necessary and participate in the on-call rotation.

  • Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance changes during off hours

  • Other duties may be assigned.


  • Special emphasis on routing, switching, and security network engineering topics.

  • Basic Knowledge of switching, routing, firewall, load balancers and wireless technologies

  • Basic Knowledge of WAN technologies.

  • Basic Knowledge of network management applications.

  • Ability to conduct research into networking issues and problems as required.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail

  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Willingness to learn and display self-initiative with a positive attitude

  • 2 to 5 years' experience in the field or education and training equivalent

VIEW JOBS 11/21/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-19T00:00 Business Unit: The Customer Security Assurance Team is a part of the Service Policy Assurance (SPA) organization and is responsible for ensuring a safe & secure cross-product experience for Comcast subscribers. This is accomplished through prompt reaction to security incidents and delivery of timely information to Comcast internal and external customers. CSA improves the Security experience for Comcast customers by raising awareness and educating customers about issues like spam, virus, phishing, fraud and other exploits. Enforcement of Acceptable Use Policy is also a key role of the Customer Security Assurance Team. The Customer Security Assurance Supervisor is responsible for mentoring and developing direct reports through the review of customer interactions, developing and delivering targeted training, and providing consistent, timely feedback to direct reports. The candidate will also act as a liaison with internal teams and outside agencies including other Internet service providers to expedite resolution of customer Security, Abuse, and Fraud related issues. In addition the Customer Security Assurance Supervisor will be responsible for leading assigned staff in identifying, processing, and resolving all related Customer Security Assurance incidents and violations of the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and subscriber agreement, ensuring delivery of an exceptional customer experience through each interaction. Duties include: * Staff leadership & development of "12 technicians in a contact center environment. * Workload balancing to ensure organization's customer support and strategic goals achievement. * Staff coaching, mentoring and professional development through regular, consistent review & scoring of customer interactions (phone, email, tickets, etc) * Ensuring immediate and accurate response to abuse, policy, and security issues affecting Comcast subscribers and networks. * Metrics development and enhancement, in partnership with CSA Leadership, including performance standards and policies. * Routine, operational reporting to leadership * Operations planning and new product/project launch support. * Ensures staff conformance to regulatory requirements (FCC, EEO, etc.). * Support development of organizational culture, including encouraging employee contributions, and fostering respect and support of all individuals. * Ability to work all shifts, including nights & weekends * 24/7 On Call support of operations, escalations, etc. * Punctual, regular and consistent attendance. Skills/Experience: * Experience in a contact center environment (Help Desk, Policy/Abuse or IP Security experience preferred.) * Advanced help desk experience. * Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills and ability to develop and motivate frontline talent. * Ability to accomplish targeted goals and execute action plans designed to achieve Comcast business objectives. * Demonstrated history of experience in high-volume, fast-paced call center environments with a high degree of success. * Team-building skills. * Must be innovative and flexible in responding to a rapidly changing environment (where new product/policy introductions will be frequent), while working to achieve organizational goals. * Possesses high degree of diagnostic and problem resolution skills. Preferred Skills/Qualifications * Knowledge of current Comcast or similar products and services. * Knowledge of contact center technologies, including billing systems, phone systems/IVR/call routing schemes, and quality management processes * In-depth knowledge of virus/malware, phishing, identity theft and other risks to the security & privacy of Comcast customers, including common attack vectors and best practices designed to combat such threats. * Working knowledge of Cable Privacy Act, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, FCC guidelines regarding CPNI and the associated obligations of a Cable Operator, Internet Service Provider, or Phone Service Provider. * Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
