Position Description


The Network Administrator supports our clients as part of the Network Engineering Team. The Network Engineering Team tests, designs, deploys, operates, and maintains networks that transport mission-critical law enforcement communications nationwide. In addition, the Network Engineering Team works with and on behalf of our clients to manage third-party resources supporting client network initiatives. Initiatives focus on the modernization, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of transport networks; specifically, the development of network architectures to support land mobile radio (LMR) communications that fully leverage the features and functionality of an IP architecture from a functional, network management, and compliance perspective.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Maintain, operate, and verify persistent operation of IP transport networks.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network protocols such as IPsec, GRE, L2TPv3, OSPF, BGP, etc.
Perform network testing in lab environment.
Provide support to engineering team initiatives as assigned.
Create and document network designs / network topologies.
Build and test proof-of-concept network solutions in a test environment.
Develop and execute testing procedures and document results.

Minimum Requirements:
7 years relevant experience w/ Bachelors degree.
10 years relevant experience w/ High School Diploma or equivalent.
Relevant Management Cert. and/or Graduate Degree.
Specialized Technical Experience, or Training.

Desired Qualifications:
Familiar with IT related troubleshooting for end users.
Familiar with Windows 2008 and 2016 servers operating systems.
Familiar with Active directory server.
Familiar with Tape backup servers including back exec applications.
Familiar with remote sessions and console access to servers.
Familiar with server virtualization platform and VDI.
Familiar with servers CVMs and Hypervisor access.
Familiar with network TCP models.
Familiar with IP sub-netting and VLANs.
Familiar with Cisco L3 and L2 switches.
Familiar with DHCP and DNS servers.
Familiar with Firewalls including Fortinet.
General knowledge of phone systems and audio recordings.

Security Clearance / Background Investigation:
Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain security clearance.

7+ years of experience with maintaining networks

Qualifications Education: Education: Bachelor's Degree (experience may substitute for education) CCNA or CCNP desired. Required Skills: Responsibilities: * Understands and is competent in the configuration and administration of network protocols such as: VRRP, HSRP, STP, LACP, 802.1q VLAN trunks, and others * Possesses knowledge and understanding about routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP * Possesses knowledge and understanding of network cabling standards including TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, IEEE, and others * Possesses knowledge and understanding of network hardware including modular switches, routers, high-availability systems, and secure network architecture * Performs installation of software and firmware on switches and routers * Coordinates to plan and execute network upgrades in an operational environment with minimal down-time * Possesses knowledge of emerging network technologies and trends * Understands solutions for network security and has demonstrated the ability to learn and apply emerging security solutions including: next-generation firewalls, security zones, Application Layer Gateway inspection, and defense-in-depth * Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network problems independently or collaborating with a team * Possesses knowledge and familiarity regarding packet analysis, packet captures, packet headers, and the associated protocols and standards * Provides metrics as required * Must be willing to work on a team with shared and individual responsibilities including administrative and technical tasks, recommendations for hardware and software purchases, case studies, collaborative design, problem resolution, and others * Identifies, recommends, and implements cost-cutting solutions and efficient practices Qualifications: * Years Of Experience: minimum 3 - 7 years network administration * Experience performing break fix on enterprise class IP networks * Knowledge in the configuration, installation, operation, and maintenance for routers, switches, and firewalls * Strong troubleshooting skills * Hands-on experience with IT infrastructure, with a concentration in networking – routers, switches, circuits etc. * Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment * Ability to analyze risk and report problems concerning system requirements * Excellent written and verbal communication skills Location: Suitland, MD Security Clearance Requirement: Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
