The Engineer II, Fiber Network Engineering is responsible for design, configuration, and troubleshooting of the access services within the network. This role must provide complex, high-level technical support for ISP and network management applications; and carry out novel and/or complex assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work on projects with technical staff in the implementation, installation, configuration, and technical support of network architecture. Develop and maintain system documentation, including diagrams, standard operating procedures and work instructions- including providing analysis on current and projected workloads as basis for long-range capacity planning.
Sustain carrier class consistency, predictability and stability of all network devices and services supported by EPB. Be part of the team that designs, implements and manages EPB's residential and commercial broadband services. Direct and perform all necessary audits and maintenance activity to ensure service levels are sustained, and that systems are optimized and not compromised. Perform after hours support duties to sustain networking systems and service levels
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field is preferred or an equivalent 4-6 years of experience in networking.
Industry certifications (CCNA, JNCIA/P, Nokia NRS, MEF CECP, et al) related to specific technical areas are a plus.
Certification(s) & Other Requirements
Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, presentation, and time management skills. Detail-oriented with critical degree of accuracy used to manage complex systems.
