The Network Engineer position is a networking professional whose main role is to provide support within the Network Engineering group of the organization. The job responsibilities of a Network Engineer include setting up and maintaining networks within an organization or between organizations(M&A). They offer support to users, engineers, other 3rd party partners, or suppliers. As such, they need to have strong troubleshooting skills and be able to work with others to resolve issues.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.

  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.

  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.

  • Provide Network Engineering support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.

  • Implement approved security tool(s), policies, and procedures in conjunction with the organization's security and information assurance teams.

  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

  • Some independent decision making expected.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued).

  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).

  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.

  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.

  • University degree or a related network engineering/analyst experience.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Cisco Network, Versa, Meraki and VoIP SaaS experience required.

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is preferred.

  • Familiar with the principles, theories, concepts and technologies of Cisco Internetworking Skills, Telecom LECS

  • Comprehensive knowledge of transmission principles, IP networking, TCP/IP, including sub-netting, routing protocols and the OSI model

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communications with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Working Conditions

Network Engineers are responsible for ensuring that Data Center and Branch networks have maximum uptime, providing fast and reliable connections for employees to get their work done promptly. They keep up these connections without delays or errors due to affected network traffic from going offline. On-Site work is required minimally 2-3 days/week. Some Weekend and off-site work are required at times. Out of state travel is also expected.
