The Network Engineer is a member of the Americas Shared Services Networking Team and will be involved in a variety of projects. The ideal and successful candidate will be competent and experienced with networking principles, design, deployment, and support.
Network Engineer duties and responsibilities
Design and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks
Offer best practice advice and recommendations towards overall network architecture and strategy
Manage the day-to-day operations of the New Haven Datacenter
Divisional SME that provides LAN, WAN, WLAN support to Divisional IT Admins
Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures
Install, configure and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
Procure network equipment and manage subcontractors involved with network installation
Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
Arrange scheduled upgrades
Investigate faults in the network
Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases
Report network status to key stakeholders
Required Experience and Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, computer systems, or related field
At least 3-5 years of proven experience supporting and architecting large scale enterprise IT network solutions for internal and outward facing applications
CCNP/CCNA or equivalent certification in similar technology stack preferred
Ability to learn new technologies quickly
Ability to design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks within Global standards and practices
Proven experience installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, WAN/LAN protocols, and Wireless technologies
Experience maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
Experience managing vendors and procuring network equipment
Exposure and understanding of SD-WAN
Strong communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal and consultative skills
Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
A self-start able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
Dependable and flexible when necessary
